🎉 Today we are 3 years old! 3 years of Siddiqui Media, working with & for amazing people/companies! This all started out when we started making pro-bono videos during the BLM protests in 2020 in Weston, where we shared stories from people in the community & we got justice for a family in Weston. At the time it was just me shooting it all, whilst working full time at an agency as a videographer/editor & Rob editing it so we could get things out quickly & spread the word.
I didn’t think I would go freelance or even later start a company but on Jan 31st 2022 I worked my last day at a ‘normal job’, asked Rob to join on with me part time & went full steam with Siddiqui Media.
It’s been super difficult for the first 2 years I worked 7 days a week - and only gave myself 2 weeks off randomly in the year. This was unhealthy & it’s played a knock on effect during the last year & now. I tried to build a team & also started mentoring where we paid people to learn video & join our team. I did video free for years & often people took advantage of me - so I knew going ahead starting my own company, that no one would ever work for free for us. Our team is always changing sometimes it’s bigger & other times it’s smaller, but the core of it has been me & Rob and to this day we are always wanting to grow & be better than we were last year.
It’s been the best & most gruelling thing I’ve ever done. Some of the experiences have changed me so much as a person & the opportunity to travel around the world meeting some of the MOST incredible people on earth is invaluable.
I’ve done video for 13 years now, 2 years at college, 3 years at uni, 4.5 years at an agency, 6 months as a video lecturer & 3 years as Siddiqui Media - it’s been over a decade & I’m still not bored of it. As someone who has ADHD I get bored pretty easily, so the fact that I’m still loving it now is a big win for the neurodivergent in me! 😂
