Six armed suspects were fatally wounded during a shoot-out with police on N2 near Ndabakazi outside Butterworth in the Eastern Cape. The incident occurred on Thursday, 20 February 2025, at about 14:30.

Members attached to the National Intervention unit operationalised after they received information about two vehicles with fi****ms driving from Cofimvaba. Police spotted the vehicles next to Cofimvaba and attempted to stop them. The suspects sped off. A chase ensued, and a backup was called to assist on the chase, and while they were between Ndabakazi and Butterworth, the alleged suspects shot at the Police who then retaliated. On investigation, six people were fatally wounded, and fi****ms were recovered on their vehicles

The case has been referred to Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for further investigation.

Western Cape-At least one suspect has been killed, and two others nabbed after a high-speed car chase which led to Arries Road in Surrey Estate, Cape Town.

According to Manenberg police spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, officers on patrol were alerted by a female that she had been robbed at gunpoint by three men in a white VW Polo in the Gugulethu policing precinct.

The vehicle was spotted, and officers attempted to pull it over, but the suspects sped away.

A high-speed chase ensued. The driver of the getaway vehicle lost control of the car in Arries Road and collided with a SAPS vehicle.

The trio, all who are foreign nationals, tried to escape. Bennett says one of the suspects turned and pointed a firearm at the officers.

The officers responded, hitting him fatally.

A 22-year-old Zimbabwean was also injured. He is under police guard in hospital.

A 27-year-old, also from Zimbabwe, was detained.

Bennett says an inquest case has been registered for investigation into Wednesday morning's incident.

*GQEBERHA: 15 FEBRUARY 2025 – Police sought information to solve a murder case that was reported at SAPS Bethelsdorp following a shooting incident that took place at Extension 24, Bethelsdorp early on Saturday 15/02.

It is alleged that at approximately 10:00, the deceased (58) Imam Moegsien Hendricks and a driver was inside a gold-coloured VW TRoc in Haley Place, Extension 24, Bethelsdorp when a silver-coloured Hilux double cab stopped infront and blocked them from driving off. Two unknown suspects with covered faces got out of the vehicle and started firing multiple shots at the vehicle. Thereafter they fled the scene, and the driver noticed that Hendricks who was seated at the back of the vehicle was shot and killed.

The motive for the murder is unknown and forms part of the ongoing investigation.

Police sought information from the community that can help to trace the murder. All information is confidential, and callers may remain anonymous.

KZN-Three suspects were shot and killed after a confrontation with KZN police in Bhambayi Today.

Members from the Inanda SAPS Task Team, along with Durban Metro Police Trio Crimes, were able to corner the gang - but they allegedly opened fire, sparking a shootout.

Several guns have been recovered.

KZN-[Watch]A 66-year-old woman was robbed after meeting a man for their 1st date in Ethekwini on on Wednesday.

According to a report by Reaction Unit South Africa ,The 66-year-old victim met the 54-year-old man on a dating site and they both agreed to meet.

Before their date,she went to withdraw SASSA grant for her and her 84-year-old mother.After the date at a dam they went for a meal but the victim requested to go use the ablution facilities and freshen up at a gas station.

After the woman got off the date's car(a white Opel Corsa) the date drove off with the woman's grant money and belongings.

He was arrested yesterday and told reaction unit officers that he spent most of the money at the casino and purchased oil for his car .

Suspect was handed over to SAPS.

Mpumalanga- 30 year-old Pieter Johannes Grobler who was arrested by the Hawks for allegedly repackaging expired and rotten food which is later sold for people to consume was released on R8 000 bail by the Secunda Magistrate’s Court.

According to SAPS, the farmer collects expired food from chain stores and other distributors under the pretence of feeding such food to his domestic animals.

When the team comprising of the Hawks and Govan Mbeki Local Municipality Health Inspectors visited his farm, they discovered that there were two warehouses packed with food not fit for human consumption.

Four cold rooms filled with expired canned products, rotten red meat, and chicken meat were also found.

About 1000 crates were found fully loaded with expired dairy products, including cheese products.

A truck, fitted with a coldroom, two light delivery vehicles, one loaded with meat, and an empty LDV were also found. An intense investigation will be conducted on the vehicles.

A total of seven freezers were found in the warehouses with repackaged wheat, flower, and maize meal.

Equipment used for vacuuming, scales, and plastic sealers was found on the scene.

The recovered items include stickers and pricing machines, which are believed to be used during repackaging.

The accused will be back in court on the 27th of March after his case was postponed for further investigation.

Eastern Cape- A Toyota Quantum allegedly chased a VW Polo, which overturned during the pursuit leaving three occupants of the Polo with serious injuries on the N2 near Dutywa on Thursday.

It is alleged that the Polo picked up passengers and the taxi operators chased them.

The Quantum,allegedly did not stop to assist after the crash,” transport MEC Xolile Nqatha’s spokesperson, Makhaya Komisa, said.

“Again, we warn operators to refrain from chasing motorists. They must adhere to laws and regulations.”

Komisa said the department wished the injured a speedy recovery.
