– In the heart of Miami’s thriving art scene, Art Wynwood, presented by Art Miami, is poised to unveil its 11th edition, a testament to its enduring appeal and growing stature in the global art community. Scheduled from February 15th to 18th at One Herald Plaza, this year’s fair promises an exclusive amalgamation of contemporary art, attracting connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.
The festivities commence with an invitation-only VIP Preview on February 14th, benefiting The Bass Museum, a nod to Art Wynwood’s commitment to both the art and the local community.
Featuring over 50 galleries from diverse nations – from England to Venezuela, and Austria to the United States – Art Wynwood 2024 is a melting pot of global artistic expression. This year’s fair spotlights a rich array of genres, including murals, pop surrealism, street art, and other contemporary works, offering attendees an unparalleled opportunity to acquire pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries.
In a significant tribute, Art Wynwood will honor Peter Tunney with the esteemed Art Wynwood Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award. Tunney, a beacon of creativity and ingenuity, has captivated art lovers for over three decades with his eclectic mix of mediums, including paint, collage, and photography. His art, drawn from a life rich in experiences and adventures, resonates with positivity and unconventional perspectives. Tunney’s presence in Miami, particularly in the Wynwood Walls, adds a local connection to his international acclaim.
Julian Navarro, Director of Art Wynwood, remarked, “Each year, Art Wynwood magnetizes an array of influential collectors, curators, and art aficionados from around the world. Art Wynwood, Miami’s international contemporary art fair during President’s Day Weekend brought a crowd of 6,200 into the Wynwood Arts District - 1,100 more guests than last year. The VIP Preview honored the late Tony Goldman, a major force in the development of the Wynwood Arts District and the inaugural edition of Art Wynwood. An intimate gathering including Art Wynwood director Nick Korniloff and members of the Goldman family participated in a dove-releasing ceremony in Goldman’s honor just before teems of prominent art collectors, designers, curators and art enthusiasts from around the world lined up outside the Art Miami Pavilion to get the first look and acquire new contemporary works.
