Cecilia High is looking to get back to the Division II non-select state championship game after losing out last year to district rival Opelousas. The Bulldogs have one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the state. Four-year starter Diesel Solari can throw for 200 yards a game and rush for 100 yards and score multiple touchdowns.

One of his top targets through the air is Brent Gordon, who signed with the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns last week. Gordon is not only a receiver, but a tackling machine on defense and he's a threat in the return game on special teams. Cecilia also has a sensational sophomore in Braylon Calais. He's a big-time playmaker and a big time recruit in the Class of 2027.

Iberville Parish Athletics enters the game on a 12-game winning streak and they also have a high-powered offense. The Green Devils are averaging 45 points per game. Tyrese Mosby leads Plaquemine's attack on offense. He's rushed for an astonishing 2.350 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Quarterback Nico Victorian has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. John Walker V has 38 catches for 743 yards and 13 touchdowns. Dajon Beloney has 39 catches for 669 yards and eight touchdowns. On defense, Plaquemine is led by Roderick Bingham, who has 75 tackles and six tackles for a loss. He also has five interceptions.

Plaquemine has never won a state championship, while Cecilia's last and only title in 1995.

This Division I quarterfinal matchup between is a rematch of last year's semifinal contest that took two days to complete. Severe storms interrupted last year's postseason game at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge in the fourth quarter.

The two teams returned to field the next day to complete the game that saw Catholic win 28-16. The Bears went on to win their fifth state championship beating Acadiana 55-31.

Join us for an LHSAA Division I (Select) 2nd round matchup between the St. Augustine High School Purple Knights (7-4) vs the St. Thomas More Catholic High School Cougars (7-3). The Cougars received a bye for their round-one game, and the Purple Knights crushed Carencro 44-7 in their first round matchup.

Both teams come in with similar records, but St. Thomas More went undefeated (6-0) and finished first in 4A District 4. St. Augustine finished fourth with a 4-3 record in 5A District 9. https://www.yurview.com/football

Andover Central High School Jaguars is moving on in the Kansas State High School Activities Association 4A playoffs, but in the meantime, here are a couple of highlights from last Friday's game.

First up, it's Jace Jefferson to Adler, who brings it down in the end zone one-handed.

Then Dusty Bannister connects with Carter Burnett over the shoulder for the Wellington score.

The YurView Louisiana Game of the Week’s first round playoff game this Friday features two teams that can score some points. The Zachary Broncos (7-3) are averaging 32 points a game, while the Sam Houston Broncos (6-4) are averaging 35 points per contest.

Sam Houston High School is led by quarterback Gavin Stout, who has been a starter since his freshman season. Stout has thrown for 1,724 yards and 16 touchdowns. He’s got a veteran group of receivers around him led by Drew Dronet, who is quick and fast and has 36 catches on the season. Running back Drew Bailey has also put up big numbers, with 1,636 yards and eight touchdowns. Sam Houston’s defense is led by linebacker Keaton Sonnier, who has 95 tackles and is a classroom standout with a 4.2 GPA.

Zachary High Football played in the Division I select state championship game last year and they’ve won four state titles since 2015. Senior quarterback Caleb Gonzales and has thrown for 1,560 yards and 14 touchdowns. They have two receivers who have over 300 yards receiving in Jaiden Cockerham and Kirstion Brooks. Running back Da’Vekio Ruffin became the starter midway through the season and he’s really taken off. For the season, Ruffin 1,154 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns. Last week against Catholic High, he accounted for 298 yards and scored six touchdowns.

In Kansas, we've got a sectional showdown between two of the top ranked teams in Class 4A. The #3 West seed Wellington Crusaders (8-2) will make the four and a half hour trip to take on the #2 West seed Andover Central Jaguars (9-1).

Wellington High School USD 353 is on a roll. After losing their first two games of the season, the Crusaders have reeled off eight wins in a row. In last week’s regional playoff matchup, they edged out Kapaun Mt. Carmel 20-19. Players to watch: QB Dusty Bannister is 164 of 260 for 3149 yards through the air and has 51 carries for 329 yards and 5 TDs on the ground. WR Carter Burnett has 55 receptions for 1153 yards and 10 touchdowns and LB Colton Bannister has 109 tackles on the season.

Andover Central High School Jaguars are on a five game winning streak of their own. The Jaguars have outscored their opponents 348 to 119 for the season. In the regional round, the Jaguars defeated Winfield 35-7. Players to watch: RB Maddox Archibald has 177 carries for 1243 yards for 17 touchdowns. WR Brandt Stupka has 45 receptions for 733 yards, 9 touchdowns. LB Landon Preston has 93 total tackles on the season.

We'll kick things off in Kansas, where Derby High School Athletics advanced to the 6A Sectionals with a win over Junction City. Drew Kemp fires one off to Vols commit Da’Saahn Brame before connecting with sophomore phenom Arieus Finley during some truly brutal weather.

In Omaha, Bennington High School climbed another rung in the Class B bracket. Our featured play starts with a faked handoff so convincing, it even fooled the camera man. Houston Hill gets the ball to Cooper Johnson, who takes it the long way to the house.

In OKC, the Ponca City Public Schools Wildcats ended their season 3-7 with their win over PC West. We still loved this James Janzen handoff to Obama Bell, who delivers this TD from end zone to end zone for the Patriots. Then we'll take another look at the long bomb Jonston Burke fired at A.J. Landes for the score.
