He left the range in his private vehicle, however was still on duty. While on Fort Ord property, a large military truck accidentally struck Sergeant Lansing's vehicle killing him instantly. Great teamwork by Seaside and Monterey PD to make this arrest!**MAJOR FENTANYL BUST RELATED TO OVERDOSE DEATH** On March 24, the Seaside Police Department responded to a medical call of a young man who overdosed from fenta...nyl use at his home. Tragically the 31 year old victim passed away. Seaside detectives, thoroughly investigated the matter, and were able to determine who had sold the victim to deadly drugs. Detectives identified the suspect, as Justin Born (31) out of Monterey. On April 7, 2023, Seaside detectives attempted to serve an arrest and search warrant on Born at his home on Ocean Avenue in the city of Monterey. Unrelated to the Warrant, a DUI driver collided into a Seaside vehicle and an adult female was subsequently arrested, (no injuries). Seaside and Monterey Detectives later located Born and arrested him. A search warrant of his home uncovered over 6 ounces of fentanyl, a firearm and over 16k in cash. Born was arrested and charged with manslaughter and numerous drug trafficking Felonies. Seaside and Monterey Peninsula are safer communities as a result of this apprehension. We would like to thank the Monterey Police Department for their assistance in this investigation and our Seaside detectives for their diligent and dedicated investigation! via Monterey Police Department.

During her tenure, Amy selflessly touched thousands of people who lived, worked and visited Monterey while she was assigned as a patrol officer, detective and field training officer. She was survived by her husband and three children. Amy was devoted to ...her family, and a great friend to others. She is greatly missed.
