Created by WGBH and in collaboration with The Partnership, a Boston-based non-profit with nearly 30 years of experience in executive training for professionals of color, NGL provides skills development, senior-level coaching, and national networking experiences for eight Senior Editorial Fellows – mid-career station staff or independent media makers. The NGL training program includes lectures on l
eadership and public media from experts, coaching and mentoring to examine opportunities and barriers in public media, and strategies needed to succeed. At the heart of the initiative are four week-long periods, spread over a year, during which Fellow are embedded at a major public media production – for example, American Experience or Frontline at WGBH, or The NewsHour or KQED’s Quest science series. The embed weeks will provide mentorship and real-world experience at established PBS national programs, giving Fellows the opportunity to observe leadership in action and to make contributions to major series.
