At approximately 10 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 4, Lewisville dispatch and Denton County dispatch received multiple calls about a shooting incident near the intersection of Eagle Point Drive and Marina Bay.

Three victims were shot after a verbal altercation between two parties turned physical. Two victims were treated at local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and the third victim declined medical assistance.

Detectives have determined this is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, and a physical description is too vague to release at this time.

If anyone has any information about this incident, they are asked to contact Detective J. Potter by phone at 972.219.3635 or by email at [email protected]. To anonymously report a tip, call Denton County Crime Stoppers at 1.800.388.TIPS (8477) or visit dentoncountycrimestoppers.com.

Here's the status of the storm debris cleanup.

Here's the status of the storm debris cleanup.

The City contracted with Republic Services and Community Waste Disposal to pick up storm debris, but due to the high volume of debris, progress has not been as fast as originally expected in recovering the storm debris.

On Thursday, June 27, an additional contractor, with larger trucks, began working to clear debris from the storm-battered areas. The company will be working to get debris from residential houses. This will include Saturdays. At this time, there is not a sketched-out, "this neighborhood on this day" timeline. Moving forward the city will post and maintain a map of cleared areas to show the progress of the cleanup.

LINK TO STORM DEBRIS COLLECTION MAP: https://loom.ly/667-Zt0

This is a cleanup for debris from the storm in late May, set out in front of houses by June 10, not a second sweep to get what people may have put out afterward. If the City and/or Republic Services has already cleared an area, they will not be coming back through an area so do not put freshly cut limbs out expecting them to be picked up. You will have to follow regular setout instructions to get any new debris cleared.

UPDATE: A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, 11 a.m., at Bowie First Methodist Church, 1515 Jefferson Street, Bowie.

In honor of former Lewisville City Manager Chuck Owens, who died overnight, Mayor TJ Gilmore has ordered the Lewisville flag be lowered to half-staff at all City facilities now through Friday evening, and again on the day of the memorial service.

Owens was the city's fifth city manager, serving as city manager from 1985 until his retirement in 1998. During his tenure, Lewisville's population nearly doubled to 69,200 residents, and many important city facilities and services were added to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population. He made a lasting impact on Lewisville through his service. We offer our condolences to his family and friends for their loss.
