Concentrated, junior Ethan Lorber colors bookmarks that will be later donated to local elementary schools during the Hands On South Florida club meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2 after school in room 226. Junior Coleman Campanella studies for the upcoming science Olympiad, organized by Science National Honor Society. Campanella was accepted to be on the physics team, which will be coached by physics teacher Kier Tarrazona. "Right now, I have a Five Steps to a Five book that I'm working on," Campanella said. "I'm doing kinematics right now, but it also has electromagnetic magnetism, so I plan on completing a bunch of questions in there."

Vice President Aidan Tau organizes competitors under which science category they're competing on for the the Olympiad. The Science Olympiad has five main categories based on Biology, Environmental, Chemistry, Physics and Miscellaneous, with 4-6 sub-categories that people can sign up for. "We're working on organizing practices currently, we have to talk to teachers, we have to make sure the teachers are okay with helping us out, and then we have to make sure we have the space to do it and that people are able to come," Tau said. "We are working on educating them on how each of their events works."

President Jiya Anand presents the times for practice for the Olympiad teams. She also spoke about possible fundraising methods for the the club like kickbacks, selling chocolate or extra member fees; Anand announced a competition for the T-shirt design for this year for the club. "As president, I plan all the meetings, I present all the meetings and I collaborate with all the team members to make sure the activities are as entertaining and interesting as possible," Anand said. "This year, we started a science Olympiad team where we are competing, so we are trying to get the best possible people."

While explaining the Tosenkyo game, junior Vivian Leung demonstrates what to do along with junior Aditi Sawant and senior Amanda Liu during an Asian Student Association meeting on Sept. 30. Coffee with a Tune. Freshmen Charlotte Schroder, Brooklyn Bhim and Jolie Bickler sing loud and proud to entertain those who attended the fall coffee house on Friday, Sept. 27 hosted by the Drama Club Booster. Attendees paid $5 to enter the event. Senior Bruno Camilo rolls a clothing rack around the courtyard during B lunch on Thursday, Sept. 19 for "Anything But A Backpack" Day. Camilo used the clothing rack to hang his school items, including headphones, a change of clothes and a notebook, for transport throughout the day. "['Anything But A Backpack' Day]'s fun; it's interesting," Camilo said. "I wish more people would have done it."

All decked out in red, junior Gabriella Lima walks to class on Friday, Sept. 20 during homecoming spirit week. MSD held "4 of a Kind" Friday on the last day of spirit week, where students wore colors corresponding to their grade level.

Senior Kayla Walker competes for the final available spot in a competitive game of musical chairs on Friday, Sept. 20 during A lunch. Friday's spirit week theme encouraged students to dress in their class colors. "[My favorite part about spirit week] is being with my friends and just spending my last year with everyone," Walker said.

On Friday, Sept. 20, sophomores wore blue for "4 of a Kind" Friday, in which students wore their class colors. "I'm really loving the school spirit," Szkaradek said.

While teaching a lesson for the Game Design Class, junior Marc Lam instructs junior Taylor Rowe on what to type into the computer during a Coding Club meeting on Sept. 27. Coding Club offers a variety of classes from different coding languages to 3D Printing and Minecraft for all MSD students. Sophomore Joshua Johnson tags an Atlantic Sharpnose Shark for research at the Guy Harvey Research Institute at Nova Southeastern University. This field trip took place on Thursday, April 25 with 19 students, primarily those from marine biology teacher Bryce Robinson-Burgess’ class. Shark tagging is currently used by NSU researchers and collaborators to monitor the migratory patterns of ten distinct shark species, including the smooth hammerhead, which was recently added to the project.
