One year after the devastating Lutsen Resort fire, the charred remains serve as a stark reminder of what was lost. This story revisits the tragedy, the impact on the community, and what the future may hold for this iconic North Shore landmark.

The Oddz & Endz thrift store in Grand Marais has once again made a huge impact, distributing over $170,000 to local nonprofits. Their mission of sustainability and generosity continues to strengthen the community in powerful ways.

The Mite 1 hockey teams brought excitement and energy to the Great Lake Skate Jamboree, showing off their passion for the game and giving the community a glimpse of the future of North Shore hockey.

Bowling history was made once again at Silver Bowl, as another perfect 300 game was recorded during a sanctioned event. The North Shore continues to prove it has serious talent on and off the lanes!

This week, we take a moment to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Air Force, their dedication to protecting our skies, and the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe.

Former Two Harbors Mayor Randy Keith Bolen Jr. has passed away at age 48.

Randy Keith Bolen Jr., 48, formerly of Two Harbors, died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his parents at his side.

Randy was born November 24, 1975 to Randy Sr. and Donna Bolen in Two Harbors, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He was employed by CN Railroad in the track department for many years, and served his community on the city council and as mayor for several years. He enjoyed his years in politics and took pride in voting for the causes he believed in.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing drums in a band with his friends.

Randy was preceded in death by a son, Wyatt Thomas Bolen; his grandparents, Perry and Janice Bolen, and Henry and Gladys Beckwith.

He is survived by his son, Zachary Wyatt Bolen, and Zach’s mother Tara Anderson; his parents, Randy and Donna Bolen; brothers, Chad (Stephanie) Bolen and Tyler (Darren Dodd) Bolen; nieces, Emily and Claire; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He married Zach Morsette on June 4th and was gone on October 22nd.

A Celebration of Randy’s life will be held from 11 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Two Harbors Community
Center. Please come ready to share a story about Randy Jr. to give us back our joy.
