Michael Walke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2024.

Michael "Mike" Walke passed away on August 12th, 2023. He was a caring father to Chris (Tracey), grandfather to Cam, several cousins and friend to many. Mike was born in Minot, ND on January 30th, 1945 to Mabel and Richard Walke. Mike grew up in both Duluth and Superior, graduating from Superior High School.

He served in Vietnam as a photographer and correspondent. Mike went on to complete schooling at the University of Wisconsin and University of Minnesota. He was a successful hospital administrator at Lakeview Memorial in Two Harbors and as a consultant to rural hospitals throughout the Midwest.

Mike was an accomplished actor that remained active in community theater everywhere he lived. As a skilled piano player his home was filled with classical music, novels, and old movies. His endearing and magnetic personality will be forever treasured. His irreverence was legendary and uncurtailable with a knack for finding humor in most anything and having a story for everything.

Mike sought out opportunities to influence others for the better and often challenged himself to do the same. He was self-reflective privately and held strong beliefs that small acts of kindness would define a life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18th, to honor his life at Tavern on the Hill in Duluth at 2:00 PM. All are welcome.
