With CEO and co-founder of Google DeepMind Demis Hassabis getting all the details about his new documentary film

Demis Hassabis has always been thinking about thinking. It started during his childhood career as a chess champion, continued to Bullfrog Games where he helped develop one of the most successful games in history at just 17 years old, and then followed him through his PhD in cognitive neuroscience at University College London. All this led him to co-founding DeepMind, an artificial general intelligence company with one simple mission: to solve intelligence. Like they’re running out of time, The Thinking Game chronicles DeepMind’s sprint toward creating the smartest machine in the world in the AI space race

With extraordinary archival footage from Hassabis’ life and career, we follow every step that contributed to DeepMind’s monumental achievements. Hassabis leads the film — and his company — with the utmost optimism and ambition, forging a path where artificial intelligence can be used to solve any problem you can think of — and the ones that you can’t. Balancing the weight of the massive responsibility this kind of technology requires, The Thinking Game illuminates the real positive impacts AI can have, from a simple chess game to curing cancer

The Osage Nation has long been aware of the horrific mass murders that occurred over a century ago

However, for many of us who have been fortunate enough to lead lives unaware of these events, such a tragedy went completely unnoticed by our very own history books. But they are undeniably real and Grann’s book meticulously portrays these precise details

At the heart of these narratives lies the tragedy that befell the Osage Nation in early 20th-century Oklahoma, following the discovery of oil on their reservation. This revelation prompted many white American settlers to conspire in tapping into the wealth of the oil-rich lands by plotting to murder the Osage

These events were further facilitated by the federal government and a systemic erasure that resulted in the dispossession of the Osage from their land, and the terrorization of families who held the rights to the profits. This became known as the “Reign of Terror”

The concept of performance isn’t new for The Blonds, who have been dominating the runway for over ten years with showstopping designs and an impressive lineup of celebrity guests

“Looking back at that really helped us rediscover and get re-inspired by things we had done in the past, and then take those things and then develop them into collections,” David Blond told CR backstage pre-show.”

Emma Stone wins the Golden Globe 🏆 Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, Dogtooth) is known to have an affinity for the bizarre, insatiable curiosity for the human psyche, and a uniquely recognizable tone, and his latest film Poor Things is no exception. Based on the 1922 novel of the same name and offering a modern twist on the classic Frankenstein tale, Poor Things is a visual concoction of Tim Burton’s imagination of oddities, Wes Anderson’s quirky characters, and Guillermo Del Toro’s gothic fairy tale ambiance

Lanthimos crafts a world both vivid and strange, where peculiar characters don whimsical costumes against sets that lure viewers into an intriguing and fantastical realm. The film, while balancing absurdity with humor, delves into profound questions of human existence, the joy of curiosity, and the cost of love while subversively exploring gender roles and s*xuality, reminiscent of this year’s popular film, Barbie

The film’s tagline, “She’s like nothing you’ve ever seen,” undoubtedly alludes to Emma Stone’s remarkable performance, which stands out as one of the most courageous, bold, and formidable in recent memory. Watching her embody the infantile nature of Bella’s character and her maturation throughout the film is nothing short of mesmerizing

In a year with new releases from Martin Scorsese, Greta Gerwig, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Hayao Miyazaki, and David Fincher, Yorgos Lanthimos’ adaptation of Poor Things distinguishes itself as a captivating cinematic journey—an eccentric and h***y feminist fable that transcends conventional expectations. It unfolds as an epic Greek odyssey, weaving together wonder, s*x, beauty, and beasts

As the world prepares to ring in a new year, more than one billion people are expected to tune in to watch a glowing orb drop down a pole to mark midnight in New York City

The tradition going back more than a century features star performers, quirky customs and some practical challenges or the hundreds of thousands of revelers packed into Times Square

Here’s what you may not have known about one of the world’s most highly-anticipated New Year’s Eve celebrations

The concept began with sailing ⛵️

Starting in the 1800s, balls dropped from poles were used to signify the time to sailors out at sea. The first was installed in Portsmouth, England, followed by another ball in Greenwich, the namesake of Greenwich Mean Time, and that timekeeping ball is still dropped every day

Another stunning piece presented by featuring the work of Carol P. Govaert

Carol is a first-generation American of Latin American descent. As a conceptual photographer, she is both eclectic and experimental. Her work isn’t confined to a specific genre; rather, it’s characterized by a distinct atmosphere, one that is moody, eerie, melancholic, and cinematic. What truly inspires her is the darker side of life

Carol is captivated by the shadowy, murky, and sometimes depraved aspects of human nature. Photography serves as her medium for processing the world’s complexities and her own fears
