has always intrigued me. I know nothing about her except her
sketch work Mike Nichols and directing two of my all time favorite directors as actors in movies, & .

To me, she’s an intriguing creative force that nobody I know has ever mentions. I guess I know very very little people that are that deep into cinema or worse, she’s falling between the cracks.

When we talk about giving women more opportunities in , I think that’s rather shortsighted if we’re not celebrating the ones that have already forged paths.

We’re assembling a timely short film rather quickly. I’m looking for two fiery actors. A young woman and man between the ages of 19-25. If you know of any who live near PDX, please share this post.

This film will be shot around the Portland metro area. We will require one day rehearsal and two days of shooting. It’s a hot and heavy topic riddled with dilemma. It was made in the guerrilla style Moonshine Films is known for.

There is no budget. Everyone participating will be volunteering. Everyone will be able to rip the film and use it as they wish. It’ll be Creative Commons piece.

A young woman becomes pregnant by a man her boyfriend believes r***d her. Her boyfriend, already wanted for grand theft auto, runs the man over with his car. Bounty hunters arrest him at a rest stop. A traveling saleswoman in her 60s witnesses this and offers to help the young woman reach a clinic in another state that allows abortions for r**e victims, reassuring her that getting an abortion doesn’t mean abandoning her faith. Their journey becomes one of compassion and redemption.

This year, I submitted an original script for a feature film to to be consider for their writing labs in 2024. We’ll find out at the end of summer if it made the cut. It’s one of the best first drafts I’ve written in my career. A true page turner. It’s a bigger project than my regular guerrilla film stuff, so it’s gonna require a little help from backers and a production company to get on track. Found the only copies of some of my first guerrilla films. Pre-YouTube era. South of America was an attempt at an action packed feature film about documentarian filmmakers who get kidnap. Thunder Road was inspired by and gettin out of town while they’re still young. And MonoChromeMantic was a attempt a grief and neither worlds. These are foundational experiences for me. I knew nothing about making films and 20+ years later, I’m looking back and wondering how exactly did I do it?

Making movies a collective. I think often how much I wish I could have been a motivated solo artist like a painter, a flamenco guitar player or fine furniture maker. No, I picked a medium (filmmaking) that from the moment you begin assembling it, it is in constant danger of capsizing and nobody will care it did. Even after it’s complete, you’re contending with the world to at least consider to sit and watch what you made. Basking in the afterglow isn’t the reason I make movies - that’s not nearly enough reason to put yourself on the line. All I’ve taken away from making movies that’s been valuable and everlasting is the experience one gets from working with the collective. To gather around an idea and go out into the streets and breath life into together and to watch it take form. When you’re editing, there comes a moment when the film starts taking ti you and telling you what it wants to be. New York City was my training ground. This photo gets me so excited about my next rodeo. … we just wanna rule our little worlds.

It was a packed house for the first IRL screening of our guerrilla film: Blood Under the Bridge. Thanks to for keeping the movie theater going experience alive and humming with their remarkable and historically unique spaces in and throughout . The Movies (as a place) is an essential service that brings community of all walks together under one roof to share in a collective experience. Movies are a form of art. Art fulfills you and sparks ideas and we need access to art most regularly. Going to the Cinema is one of the most affordable and engaging things anyone can do on their own, with their sweetheart, friends and family but the movie theater experience is in trouble of disappearing if people are not given good reason to participate in the real world. It’d be a shame if more venues closed. Diversifying the program between the main stream films we love and hyper local talent sharing their stories on the big screen is a heathy balance. Here is to the cast of our film! Please follow them all and show up to their next screen or stage experience.

We’re excited to be considered finalist for a completion grant from I’ve been editing a rough cut of the latest film and I come across this one frame and it speaks to me. These two characters are caught up in a cycle of control. It’s a complex, dark, domestic violent relationship with no easy peezy solutions - so they take it to the max. With 24 frames in one second - this single frame is all encompassing for me.
