Music is a notoriously difficult industry to work in, especially for the beginners. ββββββββ

Many musicians will say that the only way to succeed as a musician is to work day and night, hustle, and loose precious nights of sleep. ββββββββ

However, many personal issues can arise from chronic stress and lack of self care. ββββββββ

When it comes to self-care for musicians the process is not a whole lot different than self-care for anyone else, but itβs arguably more important to follow. ββββββββ

As creatives, we often mix our work like with our personal lives.ββββββββ

When your a musician for work, that doesnβt mean you quit music when your not being payed. ββββββββ

Your still a musician at the coffee shop, the bar, and at home. ββββββββ

This can bring on a feeling of burnout, and burnout is the death of creativity. ββββββββ

What Is Self Care?ββββββββ

Self care means taking care of your physical and mental well-being. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
This basically means exercise (unless your a drummer), meditation, sleep, and eating right. ββββββββ

Honestly, its feels insane to write those words to a bunch of musicians, but in our experience, itβs important. ββββββββ

Also, some studies have shown that over 70% of independent musicians experienced some symptoms of mental illness in relation to their jobs in the past few years. ββββββββ

Why is Self-Care Important?ββββββββ

Self-care helps to build a positive image of yourself, especially through exercise and meditation, as well as reducing bad habits. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
It makes you more productive, creative, and resilient; less stressed, depressed, and anxious; and it promotes a healthy work like balance.
