In the almost thirty years of our existence, we have informed our communities with local news, sports, community events and programming of community interest. We are a diverse group of operators. We are high schools, colleges, churches, religious groups, local governments, large and small businesses and individual citizens. Sometimes we don't make any money; this, too, is part of our commitment to
our communities, where the outcome is now uncertain. Now, if we don’t act, we could only enjoy the fruits of our labor for a short time, because this is about to change. The Federal Communication Commission has labeled us as secondary status. Secondary, means we have no value. Have no purpose and should not be preserved. The government says they want to sale the spectrum we are on and the spectrum should be sold at auction to the highest bidder for mobile service. Something will be missing from our broadcasting communities in the near future. Convinced that within our very survival as broadcasters, we should preserve our communities for their sake, that of their children and their children in the future, we want to inform you of the changes. A few of us search to have the opportunities to succeed, but the big broadcasting groups, cable and satellite industry and now mobile ignore us and our broadcasting status in about to be extinct. Inspired by our values, emboldened by our challenges, heartened by the camaraderie of our industry, we continue as broadcasters again and again to the only example of perfection we know, seeking to restore the balance in ourselves as broadcasters and in our homes, in our communities and in our nation to receive free programming. As community broadcasters, we can continue to affect our communities as individuals, as groups and as broadcasters to inform our communities as citizens, and explore our culture with programming? The right to communicate is our birth right as citizens of the United States of America. The right to inform the citizens in our communities is our commitment. The right to broadcast is our privilege to perform. We are the people of community broadcasting and this is our message to our viewers. Help us preserve and protect your rights and ours as broadcasters. We are broadcasters, your community broadcasters.
