That's a wrap on the Vision Design 9er Nationals 2024! What an event, perfect conditions, racing, and people. Congratulations to Axel and Jamie for winning the championship, awesome to see a WA boat take the cake, especially these blokes.

Great close racing on the water - Perth does it again with another cracking seabreeze - a bit more in it from the right in the first couple beats. Midrange seabreeze, good opportunity for the medium-weight crews to show their skills.

Perth delivers yet again! Nowhere in the country will you find such a consistently great seabreeze as offered by the big smoke out west. As the midpoint of the regatta, the fleet was laser-focused on peak performance for top results.

Vision Design 9er Championship - Day 2

Based on the forecast, The Race Committee wisely brought racing forward to a mid-morning start. Race 1 was sailed in light-moderate winds, with a steadily building seabreeze escalating into the sub-nuclear category by lunchtime. 3 Races, lots of shifts, each race gave the fleet a different challenge with rapidly evolving conditions.

Vision Design 9er Championship - Day 1

A steadily building Freo Doctor and warm clear skies brought a classic opening to the 2024 Australian 9er Championships. Ripped Aussie crews muscled their boats around the track in close racing, with a range of experienced competitors from Ex-World Champions, to gutsy newcomers.

As the summer rolls to a close, the Refined Edge Mini-Series, hosted by Royal Perth Yacht Club is a staple of the WA off-the-beach sailing calendar. We also said celebrated the career of a very prominent member of the local sailing community, Chris "Goldy" Goldacre, who left with some parting wisdom for the younger sailors.
