20世紀前半に古美術商として活躍した廣田不孤斎は、自身も中国陶磁のコレクターでもありました。
不孤斎は美術商として一線を退いた後も古美術の蒐集を続け、一大コレクションを築きました。古美術商らしい鋭い目利きで選ばれた作品は、亡くなる前年までに三度に分け、東京国立博物館へすべて寄贈されました。その数、496点! 現在、東博では不孤斎のコレクションが数点ずつ常に展示されています。
中国陶磁研究者で、廣田不孤斎コレクションについて詳しい東京国立博物館の今井敦さんに、寄贈された名品をご紹介いただきながら、コレクションの特徴や不孤斎の人柄についてお話を伺いました。最新号に掲載しています。

Hirota Fukkosai, a leading art dealer in the early 20th century, was also an avid collector of Chinese ceramics.
Even after retiring from the art market, Fukkosai continued collecting antiques and builting a personal collection of his own. Selected with the keen eye of a seasoned dealer, he donated 496 pieces to the Tokyo National Museum in several installments up until the year before his death. Today, pieces from his collection are always on view at the museum.
