Back in the Nashville courtroom today for the apellate hearing about my home studio lawsuit. It went well we think… Stay tuned to find out if we go back to the lower courts or continue on to the TN Supreme Court for round two! Very excited to release “I Am Listening To Istanbul” today as part of our Poetry Scores series. The celebrated Turkish poet is Orhan Veli as translated by -Nehat with music from The Toy Box Studio with Chris King lyrics and singing, Peter Brooks and myself on guitar, Dave Melson on bass, Jon Rich on keys, on drums under the band name Three Fried Men. Produced and mixed by me with help from and co-mastered with Ian Shepherd. Thanks to and for playing and recording during their MTSU Department of Recording Industry internship at the studio. RIP Steve Albini... Music has suffered another huge loss today. I know we all still have a million questions for Steve. I am so grateful that in 1998, when I randomly cold-called Electrical Audio to ask about how he got a particular vocal sound, Steve answered the studio phone and talked to me. That led to booking Electrical Audio and working with him for months in the studio. He shared so much and was a massive inspiration for me in recording and starting my own studio. Many years later, we did our first interview on my podcast. What a dude! This is gonna hurt...

We lost an absolute gem of a human being today. He brought the professional music community together in an amazing way and through his teaching at Blackbird Academy launched a whole next generation of young engineers and producers. When I was working to save home studios in Music City he generously started a go fund me to help. He was a deeply caring, thoughtful, and giving lover of people and recorded music. You will be missed! RIP Mark Rubel

Back in the Nashville Chancery court room today! Still fighting to defend my home studio’s right to operate without unfair restrictions in Music City. 😎 my lawsuit against Metro went all the way to the TN Supreme Court and back down to the lower courts. It’s like a very slow Tilt-A-Whirl ride! Let’s see if we win this thing today… I’m incredibly lucky to working with Beacon Center of Tennessee and Institute for Justice!
