We said goodbye today to Gerard (Gerry) Levasseur at a wonderful memorial today at the Blatchford Hangar at Fort Edmonton Park.

Surrounded by family and hundreds friends and emcee’d by long time friend Danny Hooper to a packed house.

It was an afternoon of tears, jokes and wonderful tributes.

The Levasseur family has long been a friend of the Arabian Horse in Canada. Gerry was a past president of CAHR and his daughter Lisa was one of our directors.

If the truth be told, without Gerry and Bob Sproule making the executive decision to purchase two buildings to house the CAHR in the early 90’s, we probably wouldn’t be in existence today.

It’s the funds from the sale of those buildings are what has allowed the CAHR to still be existence.

Gerry will be missed by all those that loved him and the tribute today to a legend in the business community and a great family man was a fitting departure.

The 2nd annual Keystone Arabian Experience was a must see for everyone in the Arabian Industry.

Held at The World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida over the past two days, it was an exciting showcase of the Arabian Horse to say the least.

It is ran as a labour of love by a group of extremely dedicated volunteers from “The Arabian Horse Promotional Fund”.

The event ran on November 24 & 25th to provide an outreach program for the Arabian Horse to the general public.

The incredible facility, combined with a grouping of some very exciting classes, family friendly activities and topped off with significant donated prize money was undoubtedly a hit for its second straight year.

The event is centered around the traditional AHAF Thanksgiving Weekend Holiday Show and is combined with the opening of the “Winter Wonderland” Christmas exhibit on the WEC showgrounds.

Our hats off to everyone including Canada’s own Kerri Buksa who volunteers to make this spectacular show a success.

Our breed has lost another icon. Roger Lervick along with his wife Linda have been longtime stalwarts of the Arabian Breed in North America.

The ROL Arabian pedigrees are a large part of many Canadian breeding programs to this day.

We wish everyone at ROL Arabians our sincerest condolences during this time on the passing of Roger.
