Hot on the heels of Loyd's South Downs Way Video, the Film My Run SDW video is up on the channel now. We had almost perfect weather and if I had been fit and well we could have tried for a decent time. However, I wasn't and it was basically a case of staying awake and keeping my injury at bay for as long as possible.

I take on the South Downs Way 100 for the fifth time, despite battling an injury and fatigue from the Cape Wrath Ultra. Van life perks allow us to park right...

The edit of all my footage from the recent epic Suffolk Backyard Ultra is now live on the channel. It was another incredible event with four national records and the course record being broken. It's the biggest, best and longest Backyard event in the UK by far. https://youtu.be/ipI314gvKKo

It was the South Downs Way 100 this weekend and I had entered some time ago. Little did I know I would get slightly injured during the Cape Wrath Ultra and then spend 4 nights with minimal sleep at the Suffolk Backyard Ultra managing the live stream. Great fun though those two events were, they did not prepare me well for running 100 miles. But it’s a lot of money to throw away and I was quite keen to at least start.

So I lined up at Matterley Bowl and took a chance on my injury not flaring up. Thankfully it behaved itself until mile 90 and I managed to stay awake to cross the finish line in a respectable 25:17 and claim my 500 buckle for finishing 5 SDW100 races.

Thanks for all the support during the race from those online and those who came in person to shout at me!! Thanks also to Loyd from Run4Adventure for taping my leg! I’m very, very tired now. But there is another video to be edited so expect to see that sooooonish….!

An awe inspiring 5 days at Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve providing 90 hours of live streaming and social media coverage at the Suffolk Backyard Ultra. Some of the top Backyard runners in the world competed and the final six were from six different countries, all National champions. What an incredible weekend with the Italian, German and UK National Backyard records all falling and our winner, Lukasz Wróbel 🇵🇱 from Poland adding 38 yards to his previous best and winning with 88 yards or 366 miles.

Cape Wrath Ultra Day Eight. Possibly the most arduous final half of a race ever. Just couldn’t move at all over the heather, heathland, bracken and bog. The first 12km were fine and I even went for a swim….you need to watch the video…..but I was constantly watching the kilometres tick down for the last 12km. Foot very painful. But on the upside. I’ve DONE IT!!!!!! Cape Wrath Ultra COMPLETE. Medal ceremony back at camp later tonight. Currently sat in the lighthouse cafe.

Cape Wrath Ultra Day Seven. My oh my that was a struggle today. I came in almost last with lots of pain in my right shin. Probably the tendon sheath getting pulled in all directions on an absolutely mental course. Not gonna lie, that, was a tough day. But only 24km to the lighthouse tomorrow!!!

Cape Wrath Ultra Day Five. Very happy again today. Much cooler weather made it possible to run comfortably. It was also mostly quite runnable track. So I am a happy chappy. Thank you once again for all the messages. Keep them coming because tomorrow is another deathly long day and we all know what happened the last time I ran 40 miles. Thoughts and prayers people.

Cape Wrath Ultra Day Four. After yesterday’s meltdown and hissy fit, I have had a much better day today. The weather was cooler which meant better running and I felt great the whole way round 36km done today and I’m still in the game in 45th place. Thank you all sooooo much for your words of encouragement which I see every day. It really helped me yesterday to read your support.

Cap Wrath Ultra Day Three. Totally broken after this one. 67km with 2500m of gain on some really technical terrain. Feet in bits and some really tough mental lows. Not sure I’m strong enough for this. But I’ll start Day Four and see how we go.

In Scotland for the Cape Wrath Ultra. 8 days of running through the wilderness 400km all the way up to the lighthouse at Cape Wrath. Should be a giggle. So as it was such as nice morning, I thought I’d better get parkrun number 238 under my belt. First time running parkrun in Scotland and first time starting at 9:30am!

So that was hard work. Started out at 4:40 per kilometre hoping to stay there and perhaps speed up in the final 10km. As it was, the opposite happened and I slowed down drastically. Aah well, I finished in 3:23:44 which is pretty much what my Garmin predicted beforehand.
