A close up view of melting ice.
🧊 🇬🇱 💧

I can add a dramatic caption about global warming and how it affects the ice and glaciers. We all know it’s real and we should do our part but for now just take a moment and look at the bittersweet beauty of all the ice that melts away daily.

Ilulissat Icefjord
🇬🇱 🧊

The sea mouth of Sermeq Kujalleq, one of the few glaciers through which the Greenland ice cap reaches the sea. is one of the fastest and most active in the world. (10% of the production of all calf ice and more than any other glacier outside .)

The glacier flows at a rate of 20–35 m (66–115 ft) per day, resulting in around 20 billion tonnes of calved off and passing out of the fjord every year.

Icebergs breaking from the glacier are often so large, up to a kilometer (3,300 ft) in height, that they are too tall to float down the fjord and lie stuck on the bottom of its shallower areas, sometimes for years, until they are broken up by the force of the glacier and icebergs further up the fjord.

Elephants in Chobe walk deep into the river to feed on the grasses and water lilies.

Under the water, elephants use their feet to dig out the roots of the lilies. They shuffle their front feet while grabbing with their trunks, and then pulling up a clump of white roots. They thrash around the lilies to remove any sand in the roots, as over time this sand wears down their teeth.

BREATH
🐧
A Gentoo penguin pair vocalizing around their nest. The warm breath can be seen here on a cold morning.

Penguin calls are individually identifiable, allowing mates to recognize each other and also their chicks. They use many vocal and visual displays to communicate nesting territories, mating information, nest relief rituals, partner and chick recognition and defense against intruders.

Flight of the Penguins
🐧

- The primary function of porpoising is its efficiency in moving quickly through the water while allowing for breathing at the surface without slowing down. It may also serve as a defense mechanism against predators—it makes it difficult to grab a swimming penguin when they are continually disappearing above the surface. They also do this to lookout for predators.

In the late 1930s it was observed that the glacier had exhibited a recent huge surge, forming a ten kilometre long tongue into the sea.

are cunning hunters and scavenger, and can sometimes be seen hunting birds below bird cliffs as seen here on the cliffs of Alkefjellet.

They can grow to about 55-60cm in length (plus a tail about 28cm in length), and can weigh between 2,5 to 5kg.

The can weigh around 1.5kg, up to 77cm in length and a wingspan of 170cm.
The gulls also hunt around the cliffs for eggs and chicks.

This photo is a great example of how small the fox is and how big the gull gets.

This guy was on a mission to clear out all the eggs on this little island.
Eggs is not the food of choice but if it is available they will happily clean the nests out.

Unfortunate for the duck. We observed his behaviour for a while until he eventually decided to get in the water and swim to a different area. ( Possible where they serve poached eggs 😝)

A young male, medium fat and healthy. We found him sleeping a few meters from a carcass and blubber that he was feeding on.
After a few yawns he got up, walked 10m into the snow, dug a cozy bed and fell asleep again.

This image of a dead reindeer tangled up in a net shows the heartbreaking reality that our planet faces with . The photo was taken at Frøyabreen on the island of in the Arctic.

During our efforts with and the yearly event we discovered this reindeer. The reality is that many animals die on a daily basis because we keep using and little effort is made to be more conscious about and pollution.
