Media Enterprise Alliance (MEA) at KDOL-TV provides inner-city high school students in the Oakland Unified School District with the opportunity to study media with the goal of acquiring artistic and techical skills that gives them a voice to affect social change within their community, and develop the necessary criteria for college admission and job placement. The students work with industry profe
ssionals to produce informational videosfor non-proifits that are working to promote social and economic justice, and a quarterly video magazine that presents a youth perspective on social/political issues and arts and cultural events that celebrate the diversity of their community. The full MEA program was launched in August 2010, and is currently serving 60+ students from high schools througout the city of Oakland.
