Scrap the pools Te Matatini. Been saying this for years.

This isn’t ‘have-a-go’ at hakaz - he whakataetae kē and should be best of the best competing for top spots like it used to be.

From recollection only (and correct me if I’m wrong) - Te Arawa, Tai Rāwhiti and Tāmaki voted against the move to pools.

I know many of you think the pooling system makes it ‘fair’. We’ll I don’t see how it’s fair that groups that scored higher don’t make it to finals coz of the pool they were randomly selected for.

If this is the ”Olympics” of Kapa haka - then lets bring our A-game and fight it out with the best of the best like hakatheletes!

As I was writing the weather for today's bulletin on Te Ao Māori News this MetService New Zealand video popped up and lightened up my day...until I realised he's gonna put me out of my job! 😬😬😬

I do love seeing people giving te reo Māori a go. Kia kaha tātou ki te kōrero Māori, ahakoa ko wai ahako nō hea.

Great effort Te Ratonga Tirorangi! But try not to be too good at this reo stuff so Whakaata Māori keep me on. Ngā mihi ;)

Te Karere.

For 40 years you've survived the wrath of the kaikiri, the judgy (and sometimes funny) remarks from our kaumātua kuia and mātanga reo, the eye rolls from peers who look at you like the 'less thans' of journalism. Ngā morehu o te ao pāpaoho. May you live on for another 40 years and more!!

I grew up watching Tukoroirangi Morgan reading Te Karere. My whanaunga Tini Molyneux, Martin Rakuraku, Hinerangi Goodman (then Lackman), Te Whetu McCorkindale and Wena Harawira were on there too. Not for one moment did I think I'd follow in their footsteps. Yet here I am today, a Te Karere-bred journo presenting Māori Television's Te Ao Māori News.

Happy huringa tau e hoa mā. Thank you for being a trail-blazer for Māori broadcasters amd te reo 🙏

I've had to send my daughter out of Auckland for the rest of the year to finish her schooling coz of this kind of stupidity that's keeping us in lockdown.

And stop with your 'mana motuhake' buzz - clearly you have no idea what that really means.

Up to 5000 people have marched in an anti-lockdown protest through Tāmaki today; the third such protest since the country went into lockdown on August 17th.

Just listened and downloaded Lorde's Te Ao Mārama album after all the hūhā I've been reading and hearing - and I love it! Te Ao Mārama is my fav song on there...so catchy.

Let's help Lorde make another reo Māori album, and call it Pūhaehae - dedicated to all those who just can't appreciate a beautiful contribution to te reo Māori when they see it but instead boil with envy.

Te nuinga e whakahē ana, kāre hoki he reo Māori. Kāre anō hoki kia tuku koha ki te ao Māori.
