*Dy. DEO Kishtwar Reviews Arrangements for National Voter’s Day 2025 Celebration*

Deputy District Election Officer (Dy. DEO) Kishtwar, Sh. Idrees Lone (JKAS), today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the upcoming National Voter’s Day (NVD) celebrations.

Comprehensive discussions were held during the meeting regarding the arrangements to be made and the activities to be conducted on the occasion of NVD, scheduled for 25th January.

It was decided that the celebration will be held at multiple level, including Village, Higher Secondary, ERO HQ, and District levels across the district.

The Dy. DEO emphasized launching an awareness campaign across the district to enhance citizens' participation in the electoral process and to encourage newly eligible voters.

During the meeting,Dy DEO Kishtwar informed that as part of the pre-National Voters’ Day (NVD) celebrations, the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kishtwar Sh Rajesh Kumar Shavan-JKAS has emphasised for various activities to be undertaken to promote the theme "Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure." These included installing thematic banners, engaging social media with awareness videos by Youth Icons and Social Media Influencers, felicitating new voters, and incorporating NVD logos into office stationery, media content, websites, and election-related presentations.

Additionally,Media persons who made outstanding contributions during the last Assembly elections were to be felicitated across the district, recognizing their efforts in raising voter awareness and ensuring the success of the electoral process.

It was decided that the events would feature a pledge ceremony, quiz competitions, drawing competitions at AWCs, seminars, awareness/interactive sessions for the labourers at HEP project sites, awareness programs for transporters and drivers, nukkad nataks, and a felicitation ceremony for new voters and polling stations with more than 90% voter turnout.Mega Rally shall be organised at DC Office HQ on the Day.

The Dy. DEO also instructed for the wide publicity of the program through social media platforms, as well as electronic and print media.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs), along with Booth Awareness Groups (BAGs), were directed to celebrate the event by conducting public awareness activities at each polling station in the district.

The meeting was attended by ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh, DIO Kishtwar Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Tehsildar Mughal Maidan, LDM Kishtwar Harsh Rawal, ENT Kishtwar Angraz Singh, officials of the Election Cell, representatives of Degree Colleges, and other concerned officers via virtual mode.

The District Administration Kishtwar under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan-JKAS, in partnership with the YUVA Society, hosted cricket trials for identifying cricket talent of Youth, so that they are then sent to Dubai for the Global T20 tournament.

The event, organized under the ambitious Khelo India, Mission Youth, and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiatives, drew an overwhelming response from young cricket enthusiasts across the chenab region.

The trials, aimed at providing local talent with a global platform, witnessed the active participation of skilled players, underscoring Kishtwar’s potential to nurture world-class athletes.

This initiative reflects the administration's commitment to youth empowerment and sports development.The cricket trials offered aspiring players a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their skills and secure a spot in an international tournament.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities, including Surinder Khanna (Former Indian Cricket Player), Mushtaq Rather (Chief Coordinator for Jammu & Srinagar and Ex-Coach, Ranji Trophy), along with other prominent experts from the cricketing fraternity.

The trials saw enthusiastic participation from local players, students, and aspiring cricketers from across the Chenab Valley. The players showcased their skills and talent in front of an experienced panel, aiming for selection to the Global T-20 Battle to be held in Dubai.

During his address, the DC Kishtwar, expressed his delight at the overwhelming response from young cricketers.He emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and career opportunities for the youth of the District.

The trials will continue tomorrow, on 25th December, providing an excellent opportunity for talented cricketers to showcase their skills. Interested players are encouraged to participate and make the most of this golden chance to pursue their cricketing aspirations.

This initiative aligns with the goals of not only promoting sports but also addressing critical issues such as youth unemployment and substance abuse under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. ACD Kishtwar Chairs Comprehensive Meeting

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kishtwar, Sh. Phulail Singh, today chaired a comprehensive meeting in his office chamber to discuss various development schemes. The meeting commenced with a discussion on the parameters of PM Vishwakarma, emphasizing the need for officers to furnish information in the prescribed format by today positively.

The ACD stressed the importance of creating self-employment opportunities through PMEGP cases at the Panchayat level. He also directed officials to verify the material liability under MGNREGA and furnish information in the prescribed format. Delay compensation for non-compliance with timely payment of wages was also addressed, and officials were asked to clear pending social audit issues and furnish Action Taken Reports (ATRs) by tomorrow.

Additionally, Block Development Officers (BDOs) were instructed to expedite monitoring of works and geo-tag visits on the Area Officer App. The annual action plan under MGNREGA for FY 2025-26 to be finalized within time frame and officials were directed to identify beneficiaries for the Unnati project.

The ACD emphasized the importance of adhering to the timeline and warned against any lackadaisical approach. The meeting was attended by BDOs, Functional Manager DIC, In-charge PM Vishwakarma, MIS operators, and a representative from RSETI.

The District Administration Kishtwar today organized a workshop as part of the observation of Good Governance Week 2024, "Sushasan Saptah" (Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore), scheduled from 19th December to 24th December in the District Kishtwar.

The workshop was organized at the Conference Hall of the New DC Office Complex, District Kishtwar under the presence and overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS).Former District Collector Sh. Ghulam Nabi Balwan was the special Chief Guest on the occasion.

DC Kishtwar warmly welcomed the former District Collector and emphasized the importance of the Good Governance Week initiative, Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore. He praised Sh. Ghulam Nabi Balwan's contributions during his tenure, highlighting the significant steps taken by him to advance the District's development.

Addressing the Key District Officer’s of Line departments, the Deputy Commissioner R K Shavan stressed the need for an effective grievance redressal mechanism at the block and tehsil levels. He also outlined the district administration's focus on transparent, accountable, and responsive Governance.

The Deputy Commissioner provided insights into the "Vision Document: District Kishtwar @100," an initiative of administration aimed at boosting the economy, tourism, agriculture, hydel power projects, sports, entrepreneurship, skill development, social welfare, women empowerment, urban development, and environmental conservation in the District.

He stated that Special emphasis should be laid on empowering women by involving them in flagship schemes.

Taking the different stakeholders on board, DC Kishtwar announced a mechanism to improve literacy rates in the district. The initiative includes appointing voluntary tutors at the ward level with the goal of achieving 100% literacy rate and Nasha Mukt (drug-free) district.

DC Kishtwar said that the administration is focusing on strengthening 13 model panchayats at par with the excellence of the Governance initiatives in the District. District Officers were directed to visit these Panchayats as per notified schedule.

Counting the various other novel initiatives taken by District administration, he highlighted that an important project like "City Forest" will promote sustainable development in the township besides Strategic roads will be developed to enhance Inter-District road connectivity in conjunction with other Housing and Welfare Initiatives.

Plans for establishing two land colonies or flats, a Zila Sainik Welfare Office, a Women’s Skill Development Institute, and financial literacy programs were also discussed in the workshop.

Sports initiatives for boosting Archery and Cricket sports in the District under Khelo India were announced in the workshop, along with an international-level cricket talent hunt starting from 24th December 2024 in the District.

The Workshop also served the platform to highlight the upcoming initiatives to be taken or already taken including a 24x7 District Control Room,formation of village-level development committees, massive Swachhta (cleanliness) drives,formation of women water conservation groups,promotion of organic farming and public grievance redressal awareness through JK Samadhan, Raabta and other public grievances redressal platforms.

A documentary was presented by the Department of Information and Public Relations,Kishtwar (DIPR) on the occasion, showcasing these initiatives taken by the Administration.

District officers shared their experiences regarding ongoing Good Governance initiatives during the event.

SDM Paddar, Dr. Amit Kumar, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of all involved.

*Kishtwar, 21 Dec*: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS, PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh today called for expediting the speed of ongoing hydel power projects, saying that upon their completion, the electricity produced by these plants will touch 8000 MW. He said with this mammoth power generation capacity, J&K will catapult into becoming the biggest power hub of North India. Dr Singh was speaking while chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee Meeting (DISHA) here with the entire district administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Sh Rajesh Kumar Shavan, and attended by local MLAs and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

The Union Minister called upon the National Hydro Power Corporation Limited (NHPCL) to undertake capacity building of local unskilled labour to increase their employability for projects requiring specific skills and specialised training.
Reviewing the status of projects aimed at boosting connectivity in the district, Dr Singh, in particular, called for expediting the construction of a full-fledged airstrip in the district under Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN). The facility aims to improve connectivity for the population living in tough terrain. Dr Singh said efforts must be synergised so that the airstrip sees light of the day.

While reviewing the status of works under Pradhan Mantra Gram Sadak Yojana (PMSY) and Jal Jeevan Mission, the Union Minister urged that the concerned departments, including R&B, need to work in close coordination with the public representatives for speedy and better ex*****on of projects. Calling for bridging the communication gap, Dr Singh stated that the District Administration must follow a Standard Operating Procedure for sharing of information with the PRIs during field visits conducted by officials. He added that inputs of PRI representatives should be taken by the officials for effective implementation of the works.

Noting the negative impact of some of infrastructure projects on the health of common citizens due to pollution and land degradation, the Union Minister instructed that an arrangement must be made for carrying out a dynamic exercise as regards environment clearance granted for these projects. The Minister added that it must also be ensured that the best practices are adopted for the protection of the environment and public health.
Expressing concern over some public servants, such as doctors and teachers, quiting their jobs without following due procedure, Dr Singh stated that a uniform policy needs to be firmed up under which if these civil servants, relinquish their posts, they must be made to provide hefty compensation to the government for putting citizens to inconvenience. He underlined that the proposed policy is the need of the hour to avert a crisis across departments emanating from dearth of staff in future.

Dr Jitendra Singh directed the district administration to organise mass awareness camps highlighting the benefits of lavender, Ayushman Bharat scheme and PM Surya Ghar Mutt Bijli Yojana. In a similar vein, he called for promoting Sansad Khelkud Spardha to develop sporting talent among the local youth, and also pitched for branding of local products, such as cumin seeds and saffron. He informed that a saffron park will come up in Kishtwar soon, and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers will inaugurate it. Dr Singh also called for further exploration of the world’s finest sapphire discovered in the mines of Paddar area in the district for generation of additional revenue and creation of more employment opportunities for the local youth.

Sunil Sharma, DDC, Chairperson, Ms Pooja Thakur, MLA, Kishtwar, Ms Shagun Parihar, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan, SSP, Kishtwar, Sh. Javed Iqbal, DDC members,nominated members of the DISHA committee besides District and Sectoral officers of different departments.
