A big learning for me when I became self-employed was the many hats we have to wear… 🤠 - not those types of hats unfortunately! 🤣

Finance, sales, customer services, HR, marketing, procurement - to name but a few….😅

When there’s so much to think about & a never ending to do list, stepping back & reassessing areas for change can be hard - especially when it comes the ever evolving world of social media.

A second opinion, fresh set of eyes or even giving ourselves the time to think, can help give a new perspective that we might not have thought of before & could add value. That’s probably one of my favourite things about working with clients.

What was your biggest learning when you started your business?

p.s the 3am message was just down to different time zones! I don’t expect messages in the early hours 😉

A big part of content creation, for me, is collaboration. Usually, the more collaboration & communication, the better the impact of the content can be.

Real Talk is about honesty.

Social media can show a very warped version of the world & how we should live our lives.

So instead of feeding into a false narrative, the content I create is honest, fun & bold that communicated a real message & encourages connection with audiences.

Social media doesn’t have to be buying followers or twisting truths. It can be fun, informative & a great way to let people know your values so they can connect.

2 years & over 7 logos later… I’m thankful to say the new branding is finally here (& staying put!! 🤣).

When I first started Real Talk I got SO bogged down with branding & how I thought it should look.

Naturally, my personality got completely lost in the process out of fear of not looking professional to others.

It just didn’t fit or look right. I wasn’t proud of it.

After years of being in corporate, this was a chance to be as creative as I wanted to be (which admittedly can be dangerous 🤣).
So it was back to the drawing board & having a really good think about what represents me & my work best. It had to be bold, fun & definitely needed a bit of pink!

😅 Whilst branding probably shouldn’t take this long, I think it’s important part of a business especially when you’re self employed. It’s your opportunity to represent yourself & your values.

They say it takes 7 seconds to make a first impression & I hope the Real Talk logo 2.0 screams bold, bright & fun because that’s what me & my work is truly about.
Social media is like the new yellow pages after all!
