A Fish Farm--they are everywhere up here.
A Spinnaker Sail! We have one, but, haven't put it up yet. It is like a kite.

Saturday, June 22nd--is technically our second day of our Big Sail; but we decided to stay at Echo Bay for another night; which is O.K. We have a beautiful, secluded spot and there is no wind to sail. My Male Human often jokes that there are three kinds of wind: No Wind, Too Much Wind or Wind from the Wrong Direction....

The Big Sail has officially begun. We plan to be gone until Mid-August, when we will return to Anacortes and my Humans will have a Boat Warming Party. They will also sell off the rest of their land-lubbing items. They have already sold their property in Oregon, their pickup truck and their motorcycle. They are committed to the adventure. They have a 5x10 storage shed left with odds and ends in it....

After three nights at the crazy Friday Harbor, we left and went around the corner to Parks Bay; a secluded, beautiful anchorage—that is private; meaning, my Humans couldn’t go ashore. That was OK, because it gave my Female Human the perfect opportunity for more lists. These new lists, were mostly dedicated to my efficiency, which is stellar, I might say....

This morning, as we were getting ready to go, Channel 16 cackled to life again. It was a Bridge Jumper at Deception Pass! The jumper turned out to be a 57-year-old man and the U.S. Coast Guard recovered his body some miles downstream. My Humans talked about it for a couple of minutes; apparently 57 is young in Human years. They reflected on our first sail together, before my upgrades and overhaul—and we had been through Deception Pass....

The second day my Humans were ready to go into town, it was my Female Humans turn to drive Enzo. They loaded into him sans grace, and then she began to practice. “Go Left” my Male Human would say and she would end up going in a circle. “OK, go towards the boat” ---and she would end up going in reverse towards the ferry lanes....

Riding comfortably in a specially made harness that hovers over my stern, is Enzo. My female human likes to name everything, so, let me introduce you to the family. Hal is a Heater and the grandfather of the family. He has been across the country several times in their semi-truck, spent time in their tiny house, joined them in their 19’ Micro Minnie in Alaska, camped with them through the Yukon and is now sailing with us....

This was to be our shakedown cruise where my Humans take me out to the water and test all the systems; all the bells and whistles. We would see what works, what doesn’t; what breaks, what doesn’t; and very important, how we all communicate with each other. The shakedown cruise is not only a test of endurance, speed and mechanics; but a test of character, resolve and attitude....

My Humans new offer was accepted, and they had now purchased Me; a Sceptre 41 Sailboat. I think they were surprised--but, that surprise was followed by delight. Now, they had to name me. The naming of a new boat, is not to be taken lightly; sailors are a superstitious lot. There are a lot of traditions and ideas about naming a boat--but, they are all meant to appease the sea Gods and bring about good luck....

After almost 3 weeks on the water, we have learned that there are 3 kinds of wind. 💨
1) Strong Wind. 💨
2) No Wind 🌬️
3) Wind in the wrong direction 😂😂.

3 Successes from our 1st week on the water! ⛵️

* Water Consumption! We used a little over 2 gallons each per day! (Shower/Cooking/Etc...) * Learning to drive the dinghy. *Anchoring!! Which we did a lot 🙂

3 Learnings from our 1st week on the water!

*The Head needs some love! *Sourdough bread 🍞is HARD! *We are very reliant—(too reliant) on internet. We WANT Starlink!!!

It’s official! We are Fulltime cruisers—-actually cruising! ⛵️So many awesome people helped us make this dream a reality! Mike , brought us together with our Gypsea Explorer and we continue to be the best of friends. 🙏We are looking forward to sailing with Keith later this year!
