Shut Up was founded by rock n' roll enthusiast and construction magnate Brad Lackey, who launched the label with a blistering posthumous release by The Stun Guns, one of the best and yet most tragically unsung punk bands of the '90s. As a refugee from the state of Florida, Brad knew all the bands connected with the vibrant '90s Miami Scene that included The Eat, Stun Guns, Los Canadians and Chicke
nhead. Shut Up 002 (Ye Olde Bu****ck) was another post-Florida project w/ members of Chickenhead and Los Canadians, and Shut Up 003 was a gloriously weird 7" by Miami psychfreaks Kreamy 'Lectric Santa. Brad moved the label from Oakland to Portland around 2004, and in 2009, Shut Up recorded Severance Package, who had a tenuous Florida connection, having put out a split 7" w/ Los Canadians & their old band Black Fork. Shut Up 004 was S/P's "All Down Hill" 7", which was followed in 2011 by a killer split 7" featuring Minnesota's Frozen Teens and Kansas City's Street Legal. In 2013, Brad passed Shut Up on to Robin & Josh Indar, who promptly repressed S/P's self-released CD EP, "What's Yr Function."
