We are in the calm before the storm. These legal and constitutional trials and controversies surrounding the 45th POTUS should have commenced long ago and should now be finishing, if not already finished.
We now have a nation, nearly half of which will be content with, if not prefer, a would-be right wing dictatorship rather than a representative democracy or constitutional republic.
The would-be dictator should have long since been legally and constitutionally disqualified from holding public office again; but now there is no institutional body that is both willing and able to do the right thing at this particular point in the political calendar.
This is apparently headed for a cataclysmic if not catastrophic ending, insofar as the rule of law in the American experiment is concerned.

THIS IS WHAT BIDEN-HARRIS should say: The Dems WILL and SHOULD pack the SCOTUS ONLY IF, IF, THIS current Supreme Court nomination is fast tracked and confirmed during Trump's term, and before Trump's reelection.
Why? Because Judge Merrick Garland was never given a hearing or a vote in the U.S. Senate (not even in the Senate Judiciary Committee) in accordance with the Senate's Constitutional advise and consent responsibility.
You can't have it both ways.

We are in a continuation of the Civil War. The same exact dynamic is in place; as it continues to be a fight for and/or against white supremacy.
The differences are that now most of those who had been enslaved can (now) vote; and that the Southern state's rights conservative white supremacists are now Republicans, while the Northern liberal and radical abolitionists are now Democrats; all due to the mid-20th century embrace, enactment, and enforcement of the legislative agenda of the 20th century Civil Rights Movement by Northern liberal Democrats and Republicans.
This is Civil War II, and the de facto Confederate surrogacy has captured the White House.
The question remains: have they won the war?
