It's been 9 years, but we finally got it! Today we see NS 282 ( Atlanta, GA - Charlotte, NC ) making a northbound run through Norris, SC heading for Charlotte, NC on this warm sunny afternoon with the NS #4001 GE AC44C6M ( Blue & Silver scheme with yellow mane ) leading the way. NS #8879 GE Dash9-40C was rebuilt as NS #4001 GE AC44C6M in August of 2015 with a rebuild program to turn all of the Dash9-40C & Dash9-44CW locomotives into AC44C6M for better performance with AC traction motor. Photos were taken on Monday ( 11/18/2024 )

Holy cow!!! This is great news from Norfolk Southern. With CSX Transportation creating their 21st heritage locomotive, NS steps in for their very own 21st heritage unit as well. Looks like NS and CSX are in competition for the best heritage fleet and how many they make. To us Norfolk Southern made the best Heritage Locomotives but CSX did a great job as well. NS has four road names to vote for, what is your vote?

That looks fantastic!

See tracks, think train! Railroad safety is huge concern when it comes to the public and the railroad tracks. They take senior pictures for graduation, walk the tracks to take shortcuts, sit on the tracks to rest or Chat with there friends and climb on railroad equipment and trains just to hangout or get to the other side. Remember folks, walking on railroad tracks and climbing on railroad equipment and trains is trespassing and dangerous. It can lead up to a hefty fine or jail time. Not only with the local police get you, but the railroads have a police force as well. If you need to get across the tracks, use a railroad crossing, a bridge or a under pass, it is much safer. If you town or community is having a fair, concert or any type of event near railroad tracks, stay off and away. It is not a pretty sight to see when someone gets killed. Most important, if you see a railroad crossing with flashing lights and gates are down, do not go around the gates to beat the train unless you have a death wish, we have seen that way to much and it's not fun at all. If you see a crossing activated but with no train, please go to the cross gate and look for the blue or while sign with a 1-800 number and call it in for repairs for the railroad and the safety of the public. We hope you all have nice day and stay safe. See tracks, think train at all times!

Hello everyone! We would like to check on everyone and the railroads on how they are doing after the Hurricane and Tropical storm from last night. We do hope you are all safe and sound. Please take care of yourselves and be sure to find food, water and a generator to power up your home while the power companies try and get the power back on. We do know some businesses and corporations have generators and helping the best way possible. Stay safe and God Bless you all out there!

The Spirit lives on! Today we visit the Norfolk Southern East End Division for the Union Pacific #1943 EMD SD70AH ( The Spirit Of Our Amred Forces ) locomotive while leading the UP ZLAAI / CPKC I968 / NS 28J ( Los Angeles, CA - Jacksonville, FL ). We began our chase in Tallapoosa, GA, and ended it in Austell, GA, as the train heads eastbound for Jacksonville, FL. Once the train goes into Inman Yard, the power will more than likely get ripped off of NS 28J and NS power will resume the rest of the journey southvound while the Union Pacific power goes to the shops and gets resigned for NS 29S / CPKC I969 / UP ZAILA ( Atlanta, GA - Los Angeles, CA ) for their return trip back out west. It was nice to see this locomotive in action, and it is a beautiful paint job by the Union Pacific Railroad. Photos were taken on Monday ( 09/23/2024 ).
