SCAM ALERT: Got a call while at my Mother's House yesterday from an outfit called "Peco." They said; "you owe $498.00 and must pay the bill within 1 hour with cash or their technician would cut off the electric service." They then advise me to call this number: 888-264-2061 for further instructions as how to prevent this "shut off of electric service."
Out of curiosity, I'd called this number; they said the only way I could prevent the shut off was to to pay the bill in cash at Peco's payment center. Or, at this time, the electric would be shut off in 30 minutes. "I could not pay by phone, credit or debit card: only by cash!" Told them that's not happening, because it makes no sense. AND a few choice words afterwards (no profanity), they hung up on me.
FYI, CALLED PECO from the number given on the current billing statement, and the BILL TOTALLED $76.00. They added the number I had given them to their "scam list?" The electric is still on...
The reason for this post is to advise that these scammers are targeting elderly individuals to obtain funds. As, my mother is 91 years old and possibly could fall victim;as well as, others to this crime!
I'd called that number back "888-264-2061" twice they hung up me, and the 3rd time got hold of one of their bosses: he said: I shouldn't waste my f__k__g time calling back if money's were not owed.
Still can't figure who these guys represent?
