It is said “look for the silver lining.” Personally, reflecting on the devastating COVID pandemic,
a positive opportunity came my way. Reedsy. Due unemployment for my parttime job at our local
independent bookstore, I needed to actively pursue new job contacts. Given my age, geographical
location in Colorado, and years of specialized professional work experience in international children’s
publishing, I wasn’t an easy fit for available local work. But I did my due diligence and, through our local
employment agency, stumbled on Reedsy in August 2020. I was hired and haven’t looked back.

Initially, I was wary of signing on with a U.K. company with only a recent track record. Yet as I learned
more about Reedsy, I realized that many professional colleagues from New York publishing had also been chosen as
freelance editors, designers, etc. Working remotely became our new discipline, although I had been doing that for
years running my children’s book literary agency from Colorado. I gained confidence in this new publishing relationship
as I worked with my firstl clients, established payment compensation arrangements via Stripe and rapidly
gathered inquiries for my services. In addition to my other work, my role as Reedsy editorial consultant
expanded.

I’m approaching my 4th anniversary with Reedsy. I have collaborated with several hundred aspiring
picture book authors and illustrators. I’ve received hundreds of inquiries, but I limit my services
to my picture book specialization. Even at that, I’m selective with projects so as not to overextend,
but I keep extremely busy! I highly recommend this reputable industry source.

Reedsy allows authors to find and work with the best publishing professionals: from developmental editors to book cover designers, publicists and translators.

Alp Arts Co. has expanded over the past 2 years into selective picture book publishing (Alp Arts Press) and fun puppetry (Alp Arts Puppetry). We were at the Vail Public Library again today for a performance of our WINTER WONDERLAND show. Crowd of about 90 folks...and lots of fun. We'll be back this summer at the Library and the Minturn Summer Market. Photos of our cast party attached. See you soon.
