This is not the bipartisan effort we were hoping for 🙃

Edited for additional context: the Western USA is under the 9th Circuit Court, which (before covid and during) had a series of suits that affirmed each other's decisions.

The first lawsuit, Martin v Boise, laid down the decision that the Western states cannot prosecute for engaging in life sustaining behavior (such as sleeping/camping in public) without any alternative safer services available such as shelter beds.

Since the cities in the western states cannot or will not build up their social services (socialism, handouts, undeserving, all words thrown around at this point) they simply want the Supreme Court to overturn the rulings so they can go back to arresting people who sleep on benches or in tents where people can see them
