The Maroon people of Charles Town, Portland, Jamaica hold an annual conference to showcase their history and culture. The Maroons developed from the Taino people and the Africans who took their freedom and lived with the Taino in the mountains of Jamaica. They developed a stronghold and were feared by the British who eventually negotiated a treaty with them and the Maroon live on their treaty land

s. They have never stopped resisting. The conference is also an event in which they seek to connect with other Indigenous peoples - the late Frank Lumsden who was the Colonel fo the Charles Town Maroons had a vision for NO BORDERS between the Indigenous people of the world. The magazine and now this Facebook site offers an opportunity for the Maroon to connect with other Indigenous peoples especially those who cannot make the conference.
