The next storm system will bring rain/thunderstorms to the forecast area later Wednesday night through Thursday. Once Thursday afternoon hits, a surface low will be stationed over southwest Iowa with a warm front extending east across central and eastern Iowa. The focus will be along the frontal zone for robust severe thunderstorm development later Thursday afternoon through the evening where hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible. Conditions will be monitored, and a shift east may be needed in future outlooks.

An area of high pressure off to the south will lead to a tight pressure gradient later Saturday. Strong westerly surface winds sustained at 15-30 MPH with gusts of 30-50 MPH will dominate the forecast area late morning through the evening. The strongest gusts are likely in the afternoon before subsiding later Saturday evening.
