Police have arrested four people in connection with the investigation that began when human body parts were found near Southards Pond Park in Babylon Village.
Three Amityville residents, Amanda Wallace, 40, Jeffrey Mackey, 38 and Steven Brown, 44 along with one homeless person, Alexis Nieves, 33 are each charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence according to online court records.

Police say a left arm has been found off Siegal Boulevard near Southards Park in Babylon.
The arm was found around 8:41 a.m. by a group of students walking to school, according to police.
Village officials posted online late this morning that Suffolk police closed the park for an investigation.

We are excited to accept volunteers again for our annual Holiday Lamppost Decorating.
Over 1,000 volunteers decorate the lampposts throughout Babylon Village, and within a few hours, the village is transformed into a holiday wonderland.
Advanced sign-up is required, along with a $30 donation. The Babylon Beautification Society provides all the decorations (tree roping, lights, red bows), and volunteers are required to provide their ladder and holiday spirit.

State officials visited the Cedar Beach Marina in Babylon Monday to announce a new effort to protect Long Island's waterways.
The South Shore Estuary Reserve management plan for 2022 is aimed at protecting water quality, living resources and public use for the Great South Bay.
Officials say they hope to protect the natural resource for generations of Long Islanders to come.
The next step is for officials to create an action plan to bring necessary resources to the reserve.
