Earlier today around 9:45 a.m., our police officers and firefighters/paramedics responded near the top of Mount Rubidoux for an apparent su***de. A young man in his early 20’s was found deceased in a hard-to-access area of large rocks behind the cross. Their investigation revealed this man had actually taken his own life sometime overnight when the mountain was empty, but was found this morning by a hiker.

PSA Several people in the community have come down with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from exposure to infected fleas or ticks.

Treat your yards and your pets for fleas and ticks.

While treating your pets please note the following
"Frontline products (Frontline Plus, Frontline Gold) and the K9 Advantix line are two of the better-known brands of topical flea preventatives that are reported to be losing effectiveness. These products have been in use long enough that fleas have adapted and become resistant to them."

Moreno Valley City council members voted in favor of the planning commission’s recommendation for the Moreno Valley Mall renovation to move ahead. It would convert the site to add apartments, hotels, office spaces and a retail center.

The renovation would add four apartment buildings totaling 1,627 units, two hotels with 270 total rooms, and 40,000 square-feet of retail space in three of the apartment buildings and remove the existing auto center.

There will still be a mall at the heart of the project with an additional 842,964 square feet of retail space, and 60,000 square feet of office space.

Pictured below is a site overview of what the renovation would look like

In response to recent violence at King High, I called on Riverside USD School Board Members Tom Hunt and Noemi Alexander to join me at a town hall to discuss specific policy solutions to ensure children are safe on campus. Today, I received a letter from Board Members Hunt, Alexander, and Superintendent Renee Hill which ignored my invitation to a town hall, instead offering me a private meeting later this summer.

Our parents and children deserve this conversation now, and open to the public. Therefore, today I responded to RUSD with my below letter announcing a School Safety Town Hall Tuesday, May 16, 6:00 PM at Woodcrest Library. I want to hear directly from parents about their experience and what legislative solutions we can propose in the legislature. I hope the school board members will reconsider their position and attend the town hall.

Three people were found dead in a burning house in Riverside on Friday morning, Nov. 25, and police believe they may be victims of a homicide.

“We are treating it as a crime scene,” said Officer Ryan Railsback, a Police Department spokesman.

Police were responding to a report of suspicious circumstances on Price Court around 11 a.m., Railsback said, at the same time nearby residents were reporting a house on fire on the same street near the intersection of La Sierra and Indiana avenues.

Firefighters arrived to see smoke and flames coming from the home and when they entered, they immediately called for police, with a firefighter saying over the radio that he saw what he believed were multiple “murder victims.”

The street has been blocked by yellow crime scene tape.

COMMUNITY MESSAGE⁣

In response to the recent home invasion robberies occurring in our city, we have a team of detectives and officers dedicated to investigate this uptick in criminal activity. As a result of their continued efforts, we have kept certain information about these investigations out of the public while leads are being followed up on, but will release some details when the need arises for our community’s help. In the meantime, we have set up an email for community members to send in any digital security video and information that could assist in these investigations. Our team is working tirelessly to solve these crimes and are asking for the public to send them relevant information, images, or video of suspicious people and vehicles seen in the neighborhoods where these robberies have occurred. ⁣
