The 2024 Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists Intern Night will be an excellent opportunity to learn about journalism internships throughout the state, network with media professionals and meet fellow journalism students from local colleges.

No previous internship experience is required to attend! After remarks from a panel of editors and media professionals, small-group breakout sessions will offer "speed dating"-style meetings with industry insiders. And yes, we'll treat you to free pizza.

Our October event will take place at Minnesota Public Radio, a secure facility, and a digital ticket/RSVP through EventBrite (and an I.D.) is a must. Space is limited. Get your free ticket today!

Are you a college student looking for an internship in news media, or an intern looking for your first job? Find out how to break in here!

NEXT WEEK: Join us for a virtual panel on Thursday, Sept. 12, to hear how Minnesota Star Tribune reporter Andy Mannix and photojournalist Renée Jones Schneider collaborated to produce MNSPJ’s 2024 Story of the Year, “What happened to Heather Mayer?“

Page One judges lauded the pair for their deep investigation of an often misunderstood community. The end result was a compelling narrative that treated survivors with dignity and respect, while also pointing out serious shortcomings in the criminal justice system.

From noon to 1 p.m., we’ll break down the story from its genesis to publication, talk about how to gain the trust of sources and hold a Q&A for other Minnesota journalists with questions about the reporting process.

Tune in via Zoom on Sept. 12 at noon!
