This song takes a long, hard look at the ups and downs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Joshua says, “with so many that have lost loved ones, jobs and more, trusting God is the only thing that has kept us from falling completely apart. Dealing with the pandemic has taken a toll on everyone, but Joshua has risen up and taken control and this song speaks to his resurgence by putting his trust in God.

Grammy® winning producer and R&B artist, PJ Morton, has scheduled the release of a new track by his protégé, JoJo Martin. A former background singer for Morton, Martin is sure to make some big noise in the gospel music world with the up-tempo new track, “Never Left Me Alone” (Morton Inspiration / Tyscot). The soul-stirring song fuses the festiveness of a New Orleans brass band with the sweaty chord progressions of a Pentecostal revival. “The message of `Never Left Me Alone’ is the message of my entire life,” Martin explains. “From experiencing no deaths to people dying all around me, God has never left me alone. I lost my oldest brother and my mom, but God never left me alone. I found out that I had the same kidney disease my brother died with, but God never left me alone! My kidneys failing and having to be on dialysis for five years, but God never left me alone. Through every phase of my life, God has carried me. He has interceded for me when I couldn’t find the words to pray.” The last year has been a year of prayer provocations in light of the global pandemic. “The COVID shutdown affected me in many ways,” says Martin who have been fully vaccinated. “I lost my uncle who I am named after due to COVID. I lost so many friends to COVID as well. However, I found so much spiritual and emotional healing during the shutdown. Being forced to be home alone and to deal with myself, was a major blessing. I feel mentally healthier than ever before.” Over the years, Martin has written or cowritten songs with the likes of James Fortune & FIYA, Fred Hammond, Lowell Pye, Amber Bullock, The Anointed Pace Sisters, Cheryl Fortune, and Gene Moore. He’s also led songs on various projects by The Colorado Mass Choir.
