Your Community Radio Station - Proudly Serving Toledo, Ohio WAKT We Act Radio is a community radio station based in Toledo, Ohio and broadcasting on 106.1FM.
As a community radio station, we give the residents of a Toledo a way to know each other through music, talk, and other forms of programming. The content of our station is generated by the community and by request of the community. We provide a studio space, air time, and training for those who have original and unique ideas for radio programming. Throughout the year, we have windows where prospec
tive hosts can apply to have their show broadcasted on our station by completing a simple web form. Applicants that meet our basic criteria for content ideas will be contacted and asked to record a pilot episode. Based on the quality of the pilot, applicants may be given a time slot on the station at no cost. Station operations are currently manned by an all-volunteer team comprised of our board of directors and other experienced community members. WAKT-LP is the flagship operation of Toledo Integrated Media Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to providing a platform for underrepresented perspectives in local media.

On Sunday June 30 at the WAKT studios in Toledo, Ohio in front of long time supporters, family and friends, hosts, and board members of Toledo Integrated Media Education, we were able to celebrate and dedicate our tower and on air studio to honor two members of our community Bob Lynn Jr. and Ken Zuercher.
Bob Lynn Jr. and Ken Zuercher were very instrumental in the development of the installation of our radio tower and on-air studio and we are forever grateful for all of their contributions.
We were also able to debut the new look of our studio trailer courtesy of mural artist Brandon Slewion.
Brandon along with Yusef Lateef and a class of students from Bowling Green State University worked tirelessly during record high temperatures to complete the project in record time.
From everyone here at WAKT we are grateful for your continued support😎

Today was a busy day at WAKT as mural artists Brandon Slewion, Yusef Lateef and a few art students from BGSU begin work in transforming our trailer into a beautiful work of art that will resemble a boom box!
We are so excited for their vision and can’t wait to see the final result!

One of the greatest things I love about working here at the station is having the ability to work with some of the most amazing people in our community as they begin their careers in radio.
I remember exactly what is was like when I first started in this business and I take pride in making sure they are ready to go before they go to air.

Tune into DJ Reese as he broadcasts live from 2pm-4 at the Old West End Festival at The Most Happinin House” 🏠 2439 Scottwood Avenue.
A tradition established in 2015, the Most Happenin' House is a public music and varied artistic event which has attracted upwards of a thousand visitors in years past.
The centerpiece of the event is a 10-hour live concert featuring some of the Toledo area’s finest musicians. You may have read about the event in the City Paper. This year's line-up includes both local and visiting musicians from Fort Wayne and Detroit. If you enjoy live music in town, chances are some of your favorite bands are on the schedule. The Detroit Party Marching Band makes a very memorable stop here each year! There are some wonderful surprises in the mix with some very special guest musicians, and it’s going to be a natural ball.
This year they are also expanding our the brand embracing some advocacy including the League of Women Voters who can register you to vote, the Women’s Studies Department from the University of Toledo, the Lake Erie Advocates joining us after participating in the parade, the Secular Humanists of Western Lake Erie and the I-475 Neighborhoods Coalition. These organizations can provide valuable information and services impacting local, regional even national issues while having a good time at it.
When darkness falls we plan on lighting up the night featuring a film festival, a first for us showing work from the Toledo School for the Arts, the University of Toledo Film Department, including a world premiere from the Lake Erie Advocates to mark the 10th anniversary of the water crisis coming up this August! We will open with an entire piece of music composed by multi instrumentalist John Eagan accompanied with a visual presentation provided by Allied Media Group. John weaves a mixture of acoustic and electronic sounds into intricate textures to take the listener on a journey. This song Crossing the Lake is also dedicated to our good friend Al Navarre RIP.
