It's a new week and a beautiful way to begin it is by watching this rendition of Echezonachukwu Nduka's Igbo folk piece, Munachimso by Nigerian Soprano, Blessing Agu. This performance was at the "Nnem Oma" recital at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA held last Friday night. She also performed other works by Hendel, Mozart, Schubert, Guonod, Price, Nwankwo, Uzoma, and Muogbo.
Munachimso was composed in 2013 by Nigerian poet and pianist, Echezonachukwu Nduka for a friend.

"Stitching" by Echezonachukwu Nduka
Stitching
The last time I fell while cycling,
I rose to the torment of loud heartbeats
& shortness of breath.
I have updated my list of cravings to include
standing aside to watch you interrogate my nightmares,
passing each story like a thread through the eye of a needle.
I watch you stitch our affections together with steady hands,
then tug at the string to measure its firmness.
I sit at the table you set as an invitation to choose life.
Your hands are soft & I wonder if stitching makes them so.
Perhaps that was what mother did: stitching lives & broken
families back in shape with songs & steady hands.
"Stitching" is one of the poems featured in Echezonachukwu Nduka's forthcoming collection, WATERMAN.
Here, he is reciting the poem for Channels TV #Coronaverses anthology, curated by Soonest Nathaniel.

Echezonachukwu — "53 YEARS AFTER (Nigerian-Biafran War)" documentary
"One of the tragedies of the Nigerian-Biafran Civil War is that the Nigerian government has not yet addressed some of the fundamental issues that led to the war. That is why in Today's Nigeria, some of those things are still causing problems and unrest from time to time. I think it is important that we have honest conversations about the war, talk about them, teach them in schools, that way we would learn and then try not to have history repeating itself."
