SIX months after the abduction of 22-year-old mobile money booth operator Pamela Chisumpa, police in Lusaka have rescued her together with 12 other young women, including a juvenile, she had been held hostage with.

One suspect has since been arrested, while others identified as Mathews Sikaonga and James Bwalya have been placed on police wanted list.

The victims are believed to have been held hostage in a two-bedroom servant’s quarter in a yard that has a main house.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that two people had been killed at the house where the young women had been held hostage and their bodies were buried in the backyard.

An on-the-spot check at the house in question revealed a foul smell, syringes and unidentified chemicals believed to have been used to drug the victims. A coffin and some charms were also found in one of the rooms.

Investigations have revealed that the arrested man is the son of the landlord.

Neighbours who had gathered outside the house in question told a Daily Mail crew that the suspect’s father, who happened to own the house, died some years back while his mother is in Sesheke.

DEC MUST APOLOGIZE TO FORMER PRESIDENT HIS EXCELLENCY EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU FOR TARNISHING HIS NAME. SAMUEL BANDA DEMANDS

Advocates for National Democracy and Develoment executive director, Samuel Banda has demanded that the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) apologises to former Republican President, Mr Edgar Lungu for tarnishing him name.

This follows a lifting of the seizure notice by the DEC on Mr Lungu's Lodge after they initially issued a seizure notice.

Mr Banda notes that new twist exposes DEC's incompetence and as such, should apologize for denting Mr Lungu's reputation.

He has observed that the DEC is operating based on emotions, witch hunt and victimization.

He has since urged the DEC to work professionally without succumbing to political pressure from those wanting by all means to dent the image of the former president.
