In July, Yoshi was sick. He was throwing up after every meal, and we noticed him spending a lot more time in the litter box. We took him into the vet, and he was diagnosed at that time with early stage 2 kidney disease. Our vet told us that because he was dehydrated from his vomiting, his actual level of disease may be lower.
We immediately switched to K/D rx food, adding water to his wet food twice a day, and more recently started Hydra Care.
This weekend, we retested him. Yoshi has been downgraded to stage 1 kidney disease!!! Our vet said his levels look really great. 🖤🖤 I am so relieved and thankful that he showed us so early on that he didn’t feel well so that we could take him in, and I’m so glad that I followed my gut instinct when I asked them to do further testing to see what was wrong. Early stages of kidney disease are frequently undiagnosed because they don’t show signs.
We are still going to get him retested in a few months as we originally planned to make sure that he is stable. This is a disease that can progress very quickly, without a lot of notice. But for now, we are going to be grateful 🖤
