The Archive

The Archive The Archive is Duke's oldest student publication. We host literary events and publish undergraduate prose, poetry, art, and photography.

Established in 1887, The Archive is one of the oldest continuously published literary magazines in the United States and the oldest student publication at Duke University. The primary focus of the biannual magazine is the publication of student poetry and short fiction. Each edition also showcases photography and artwork. Submissions need not conform to a particular subject or theme; the staff wel

comes fresh, original work of all kinds from the Duke undergraduate body. We are proud to be able to print the work of a new generation of writers and artists. Send your pieces to [email protected] for review. In addition to publishing one issue a year, the magazine organizes readings featuring authors from the Duke community and beyond, known as the Blackburn Literary Festival. Readings are open to the public, and we hope you will join us when they occur in the spring. Since 2011, we have also played host to university-wide Salons, where both Durham and Duke artists share original work. In the meantime, pick up a copy of the magazine on racks around campus and see what Duke students are writing about.

The fall edition of The Archive is now live on our website: https://dukearchive.org/tagged/onlineissue! Check out some gorgeous poems and short stories, written by fellow Duke students!

With that, The Archive is also currently accepting submissions for the Spring edition! Email all submissions to [email protected] between now and April 9th and we will review pieces as we receive them. We were deeply impressed with the quirky, breath-taking, and vibrant artwork you all managed to create despite the unique trials and tribulations of the past semester, and we can’t wait to see what you all send in this semester.
