Well.. 4th time’s a charm🥱

It’s always been a love hate relationship with these bikes. Years ago I was hell bent on finding one machine to do it all, only to find myself deep in the woods on some gnarly single track stalling out and over heating, body and bike. I’m spoiled with modern two strokes now and have come to accept that you just have to use the right bike for the task at hand. But I wanted a more capable Dual Sport and something I can take to the dunes next year.

This time I decided to go with a 450X and plate it, they are already 20lbs lighter with the shorter subframe / swingarm / non street legal parts. It already came with a full RS4 exhaust, skid plate, rotor guard, spare 19” wheel, paddle tire, and a few other odds and ends all for half of MSRP🤫

What other parts should I throw on it?

Handlebar setup on the 250F is dialed🔒

Flexx bars from the have been an absolute game changer.. Especially on this bike the front suspension offers very little damping and with the heavier fork springs my wrists are much happier now with the new setup.

Started out the on the 2024 Africa Twin💥

Headed out onto the highway first thing which was nice and relaxing having cruise control, shortly after we found ourselves deep into the Redwoods marveling at the lush forest that surrounded us.

This bike and I meshed right away, I’ve always wanted to try an AT and I can say I am very happy with how it performed today. Almost 200 miles in so far and plenty of content to come from our journey.

So why did I build a $10,000 air cooled, under sprung trail bike? Because heritage. This is as close as you can get to a modern XR250 and with fuel injection this is one of the most reliable dirt bikes being produced right now in its category. They are fun to ride, the power is usable, and it makes for one hell of a single track machine.

We fixed the suspension, opened up the air box, installed an EJK and aftermarket exhaust, and installed pretty much every bling part available for these bikes.

A lot of these parts are coming straight out of Brazil where these bikes are made so they can be hard to find. The 250F really deserves more love in the states, with a few basic mods 9/10 riders will have a blast on this thing in many different conditions.

It’s also street legal and I use it as a Dual Sport so this is by far the most versatile bike I owned, it’s all a trade off at the end of the day, would I like a bit more power, sure.. But in the tight stuff you can ride it all day long without getting tired and maintenance is almost non existent.

You all know I love the 19+ CRF250F so when I got the chance to build another I was all in! This went to my buddy Aaron’s son out in Colorado. They recently sold their 125F and it was time for the next progression. We did the full treatment with protection parts, clutch kit, etc. Added a Hagon shock sprung to his weight and custom damper rods from Bruce’s suspension. This bike is going to be plated and spend a lot of time on the pavement so came through with a pair of D Sport tires and a full Enduro lighting kit paired with Squadron Sport headlight. with the gripper seat cover and to top it all off got us dialed with the custom graphics.

Plenty of other details along the way but thank you to everyone who was involved it’s always cool seeing a project come together and this should suit Eli’s needs perfectly.

These Trail Blade X/T performed INCREDIBLE in the snow..

If you are in the market for an affordable set of AT tires these are the best bang for your buck. Being a hybrid tire you get the best of both worlds, the tight center tread sticks to wet pavement MUCH better than an MT, yet the aggressive shoulder lugs give you some extra bite in the sloppy stuff.

The VX-16 Prism has been my go to lid for this summer off-road. The ventilation is excellent and the viewing angle is one of the largest I’ve seen. While the Airfit® liner system seemed gimmicky at first, you really do get a perfect fit every time with just a few pumps.

Thankfully it hasn’t seen the ground yet but other than an impact test 10/10 would recommend ✅

Night ride in the Talon 1000R-4 🔥

The woods sections at were a blast to test out the automatic adjusting Live Valve suspension, from standard to sport you could notice a big difference and it helped out tremendously in the technical sections. While we only scratched the surface, the R-4 blew me away with its capabilities right out of the box.

The road test; with only 149cc’s of air cooled combustion, nodding off on your morning commute might sound inevitable. Wrong, the XR150L was an absolute blast to rip through the grape covered hills and you are forced to use every last rpm in each gear fully engaging you into the moment.

Paired with the comfortable ergonomics that come with a dual sport by nature, I could have spent hours riding at this pace with little fatigue. It’s not a Goldwing by any means, but with an MSRP of $2,971 you will be pressed to find a more versatile machine.
