When I was young my maternal grandmother, the OG Queen Bee, was the one who taught us all the things. She shared her wisdom, gave her opinion, and nurtured us by just showing up.

One of the things that she taught me was to always take a different route. It didn't matter if I was just going up the street or taking a day long road trip she wanted me (and everyone else) to venture off of our usual route and explore an alternate path.

Today, I still do this. And it got me thinking about our routines. I'm not here to tell you that routines are bad. Matter of fact, I think they are great! They help with structure and productivity and ultimately help us know what's ahead. But what if our routines are taking the joy and experience out of life?

Today's prompt is about breaking your own rules! GASP!

🚙Write or share below about a time you made a last minute choice or took an unexpected path or detour.

Maybe it was trying a new coffee shop or taking a different route to work.

Maybe you cancelled plans last minute to do something new or to do nothing at all.

I would love your thoughts on this! I would say 100% this is how I’ve run all of my businesses. And I believe in it wholeheartedly…but what happens when you give too much?

When your boundaries are lacking and you give so much that there’s nothing left for yourself?

Boundaries don’t come easy to me. They are hard work. But they are necessary in our work life and our personal lives.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that I’ve been wondering in the ether, looking for where I belong, what I want to do.

In the months leading up to the New Year, I’ve realized that I am sick of myself! I’m tired of the person I’ve allowed myself to become. I’m tired of being lost, if waiting. This isn’t me!

So I decided that I would begin writing each and everyday. I hope to reveal what is inside my heart and holed up in my head just itching to get out.

While I have taking a break from teaching and mentoring, I’ve focused on building a home fragrance business. Wax melt crumble is my core product and we sell retail as well as wholesale.

I am going to start back going live, maybe here as well as on my Salted Raven page. Just to catch up and chat.

My time off has given me clarity and a bunch of healing that was obviously needed. But it always come back to the people. So be on the lookout. You never know what I’ll say on a live. LOL

When I started making wax melts I never intended to start a business but the encouragement from those around me, who continue to suppet me and believe in me, gave me the push I needed.

I read 14 books in the month of July and the majority of them were amazing so I can’t pick out a favorite but One Last Rainy Day by Author Kate Stewart was the last I finished this month and it’s still on my mind.

It’s a part of the Ravenhood Series. It’s a contemporary/suspense romance. If you’re looking for a heartbreaking read that stays with you…this is it. It is spicy and the story begins when the characters are young adults.

You must read the series in order:

Exodus
The Finish Line
One Last Rainy Day
