Last night we held a table read with the cast of Nowhere Fast in preparation of us beginning principal photography this weekend. We’re thrilled to have such a talented cast bring these characters to life and can’t wait to share more fun behind the scenes content soon!

“I was glad that the role was open and got cast as Maryam. The prep work wasn’t too difficult as I have gown up in the culture to understand the depths of how it surrounds us and the dynamics it plays in family and social situations. How these meet ups are set up so, it was simply a matter of having these thoughts swirling in the back of my mind and understanding who Maryam is and what she wants for her life with wanting to further her education and achieve for herself but also to keep her family happy by going with what they want and expect from her. The director and I also had conversations about the interaction between the main character and her. We settled that there doesn’t necessarily have to be any kinda romantic spark, just the refreshment of two people who are meeting eachother in their own paths, nothing more.
The rest was very easy since this was one of the most laid back and easy going sets. We had a lot of time to get to know each other while the shots were getting set up and get a sense of who the actors were and what the interactions felt like. It was very easy to ground right in since everything flowed so easily and the production knew exactly what they wanted so, it was a free space to just see what would naturally occur leaving the prep behind.
It feels really good to be a part of telling stories about the culture I grew up in and how that translates for many people in this modern day.” - Sahara Rahas, who plays MARYAM in ZEAL discussing her role
