Gentle tidings, dear readers - ButterBean is once again returning to our local polling place (that's Christ Church UCC Des Plaines) this Tuesday the 5th as part of Play For the Vote. We'll be performing some nice songs to keep folks in the queue entertained as they await their chance to let their voices be heard.

Oh hey -- we have a busy fortnight coming up at ButterBean HQ! First up, this Friday, the 23rd of August, check out Liz + the Baguettes at Gallery Cabaret. The Liz + the Baguettes crew have been a going concern for over a decade at this point, and there are plenty of brand new songs in the set to show for it. No cover!

Mere hours later, on Saturday, August 24th, the ButterBean duo of Julie and Charlie will be headed to the Logan Square Library at 1 in the afternoon for a set (or two) of originals and favourites alike. No cover!

It's no secret that ButterBean exists in the context of all in which they live and what came before them. As such, they will be joining in the Dylan Fans For Harris livestream on Wednesday, August 28th. More information can be found at https://dylanfansforharris.com - no cover for this one either, although you're gently encouraged to donate to the Harris Victory Fund.

Finally, The Dyes are making their long-awaited return to FitzGerald’s, where they'll rock the Sidebar on Friday, August 30th. No cover - are you sensing a pattern here? RIP Karl Wallinger of World Party (Official). Goodbye Jumbo was an album that went deep into Charlie's ears as a youngster -- here's a cover of one of that album's great songs, recorded back in 2020 to test some new equipment (and also because it briefly looked like Americans were going to have to bail out the USPS).

Here's Mr. Townes Van Zandt, as he appeared in the classic documentary Heartworn Highways: an amiable rapscallion wandering through a trailer park shooting a BB and drinking whiskey, who is also capable of writing a song that can tear your heart clean out of your chest. But before finding notoriety with his music, he was a typical teenager in Barrington, IL, playing on his high school baseball team but harboring a dream of making a name for himself as a rock and roller. Julie& has written a song about Townes' early days as part of the 2023 Hey Nonny Songwriting Contest and will be performing it next Tuesday, September 5th as part of the contest's first round. Happy 2023 from all of us here at ButterBean Records! 2022 saw the release of new albums from Julie& and The Unswept. (We also wholeheartedly recommend the new LPs by Brad Bru & The Crowd Goes Wild and Carey Anne Farrell, which feature guest appearances by Charlie and Julie, respectively.) The coming new year will see plenty more music from ButterBean artistes -- as always, we are grateful and appreciative of your ears and attention. Onward!
