Wine, Bread and Art Jazz singer Melody Gardot aka the accidental musician says in one of her songs “I do not think I can survive on bread and wine alone”. Abstractly, at least. etc.

Well I must say she was right, even if it was sort of speak. The “holy grail blend” of the unbreachable lust is the combination of Wine, Bread and Art. This blog will not be a cyber space wine taste tour, nor a catalog like website to the best bread there is for your catering options. Neither will it be a collage of different artistic creations ! Do not let the title fool you, let it lead you well

to the core of what you will read ! Wine is the window to the soul. Imagine that time, this night, in a bar, on a bench outside, wherever.. Imagine when you break down, and you find yourself talking to this stranger about your life most perfectly intimate painful details. Imagine the feeling afterwards. There’s an “eureka”, followed by some self loathing maybe. But that “Eureka”, that “I have found one of my lost pieces”.. that is the Wine. The window to the soul. Now, I will stop the blabbering and get straight to the point. Allow me to consider you my “Eureka” by sharing my story, my experiences.. Maybe one day, it will help you with your “Eureka”. Maybe.. a hopeful maybe. For I believe that we all are not alone, we all come – in principle – from the same seed, scattered pieces of the same cell. Bread is the soul’s daily intake.

“With bread, all sorrows are less” – Don Quixote. Bread is the fundamentally most satisfying of all food, for the body. What is bread in our story ? What does the soul feeds on? It feeds on whatever it sees, feels, touches, breathes.. It’s like when you’re walking down this old street, with the smell of coffee mixed with the scent of jasmine and sesame sneaking their way to your nose, and you have the sunshine in your hair and on your skin. You hear the sound of a distant piano playing Feiruz’ “Betzakkarak bl Kharif” all mixed with the day traffic. Talk about feeding your soul!

“Wine, Bread and Art” will humbly try to be part of that soul feeding. Maybe a ray of sunshine, or a one frequency of good music, etc.. I don’t pretend to be the know it all here ! Nor the give it all ! Bits and pieces are okay by me ! Art.. it’s what the soul is made of. Art is the largest dip there is. The dip where the soul bathes itself, daily. To some people – like me – all the time. Being an arts and culture reporter then I can’t help but picking up the beat of the street or the web. Either ways, you won’t regret what you read ! I can guarantee you this ! At last I must say:

With a filled glass of honesty, a crumbly great slice of passion and a huge dip of crazy, I hope “Wine, bread and Art” will be one of your daily cyber visits !
