Tribute to a Visionary Leader and Mentor: Dr. Oghenekaro Akarue

It's with profound sadness that I acknowledge the passing of my esteemed chairman, mentor, and role model, Dr. Oghenekaro Akarue, who succumbed to death's cold grasp in Canada. His departure has left an unfillable void in my life.

Dr. Akarue was an extraordinary individual who inspired me throughout my journey, from youthful curiosity to adulthood. His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support were constants in my life. His intellectual depth and innovative ideas continue to influence me.

A devoted philanthropist, Dr. Akarue dedicated his life to enriching others. His selflessness, empathy, and generosity inspired countless individuals.

Your legacy will live on through me, dear Oga. I pledge to uphold the values and visions we shared, striving to make you proud. Your impact on my life will never fade.

Rest in eternal peace, Dr. Oghenekaro Akarue. Your memory will be cherished, and your influence will continue to inspire generations.

Farewell, my chairman, mentor, and friend.

"Statement to the Nigeria Labour Congress:

I strongly believe that the name "Nigeria Labour Congress" should be changed to "Ministry Labour Congress of Nigeria" (MLCN). The reason for this suggestion is that the NLC has consistently focused solely on minimum wage increases, neglecting the broader well-being of Nigerian workers. Since its inception, the NLC has prioritized minimum wage hikes, which only benefit federal and state ministry workers, excluding private sector employees.

Private sector workers face exploitation, with meager salaries and long working hours without overtime pay. The NLC's narrow focus on minimum wage perpetuates this injustice. I urge the NLC to expand its scope to include:

1. Investigating workplace conditions, salaries, and working hours in various establishments.
2. Ensuring workers receive fair treatment, including lunch breaks and protection from maltreatment.
3. Fighting for reductions in fuel prices, electricity tariffs, and food costs, particularly for Nigerian-made products.
4. Advocating for policies that benefit all Nigerian workers, not just ministry employees.

The NLC must reform to serve the nation's interests, not just its leaders' personal gain. It's time for a change.
