It was 29 years ago that the music world lost a superstar in Tejano music and her music crossed over into the English market after her death at age 23. Selena Quintanilla Perez (April 16, 1971 - March 31, 1995) shook up the industry and made history as she and her family band put Tejano music into the ears on listeners who didn’t speak the language but could be pulled in with the Cumbia music. She is a two time Grammy award winner (Best Mexican American Album for “Selena: Live!” in 1994 and posthumously winning the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021). This young woman influenced me as a singer and inspired me to become the designer I am as well. Selena, you may be gone but your voice, your artistry, your legacy and always with us.

Ten years ago, March 24, 2014 I was performing live at The Evening Muse in Charlotte NC. Robert Greene came out to interview me for his new show “Situations with Robert Greene”. He not only came out to the show but he also captured the performance live. That same night, I met my best friend Kay Jay B-luvv and we have been tight like glue since. Back then, I couldn’t get any of my “friends” to come out and support but in this new journey of my music, the support is coming from the universe and I am ready as I am preparing to celebrate my 11th year in the music industry. I thank God for what He has blessed me to accomplish as a recording artist. Twenty #1 singles, #1 debut album (Like I Love You), and 17 Independent Music Awards. To be featured in music magazines and blogs. The first black independent artist to have a #1 on the Latin Pop and Classical charts. Two singles from my new album to both become #1 on the U.S. Pop charts and to be inducted into the Akademia Music Hall of Fame for my contribution to the world of Independent Music. To be blessed to create and fulfill a dream that I had faith in, when those around me don’t support it or try to talk bad against me and my gifts, the Bible said “According to YOUR faith be it unto you.” So Lord, thank You for blessing me to blast down doors as an Independent Artist. I look forward to another decade of great music and memories.

The other day it hit me: As an artist, I have been blessed to have my music not only top Pop and R&B charts but I have been blessed to be an artist of color who has had music top Jazz, Classical, and Latin Pop charts. I have NEVER seen an artist of color INDEPENDENTLY do this, but I have been fortunate enough to do it. Wow!!

A lot of you are not gonna like me when I come out of this season. Because baby, I am not sparing feelings. I am giving it to you straight with no chaser because I have grown and I have matured, I am not the same Greg that you may think you know. So if you’re not thick skinned, don’t come to me sideways or incorrectly because I will hand you your ass in 2024 in the most respectful and nice way. Sorry but I am evolving and don’t have time. If you are on the outside looking into someone’s storm, please hold your peace. You don’t know what the storm is for them or what they have to do in it. Not everyone’s storm situation is one of choice. Some are by choice of bad decisions and some are because God has called you to go through because He has a greater work in you. Don’t be so quick to cast judgement on people’s storms because they may be in it because God is about to elevate them and had to separate them from around you in order to do it. If you’re not in it with them, be quiet. 🤫

Sometimes in our spirit walk and in our storm season, we will hit maximum capacity. When you are so burdened down mentally and emotionally. When you’re waiting on the Lord in the wilderness and not knowing when God is going to show up. You’re waiting to hear His voice above all the noise of life and the world. You have reached maximum capacity. Today, your boy has reached MAXIMUM CAPACITY. So do NOT call me, text me, message me for ANYTHING!!!! If you are not dying or it is not an emergency, DO NOT BOTHER ME!!! I DON’T HAVE IT IN ME TODAY for anyone’s issues or whatever today. Cool?!! Cool. Be blessed.

I am so excited about the blessings God is about to pour on His people who have been enduring the storms. I shout for the elevation that is coming, the overflow that is going to touch His people. Now don’t get this twisted, EVERYBODY is not going into a new season in blessings. Some of you are going into a storm season that others are coming out of and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth but I promise that in the storm, center your self and your sights on God. It’s going to feel unfair, unjust, and uncomfortable but it is going to be needed for you to grow. So get ready for the blessings and the lessons.

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. Get ready because it’s harvest season. I don’t know about you, but I am anticipating my harvest season. God shows Himself faithful and He will not lie. In the next coming weeks, watch God begin to shower His people in this new season with insurmountable blessings and overflow. Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard. You are about to see people in positions that you are going to be wondering “how?”. You’re going to see people with homes, property, businesses, wealth, love, marriages… hallelujah!!!! God is about to make some of y’all chests hurt, eyes weep, some people not about to like you. You are going to lose friends and family because they’re not going to be able to handle the blessings of God that shall fall upon you. People who hurt you, who left you, who rejected you, people who broke your heart, who belittled you…. God is about to prepare a table before you in their presence. They’re going to want to come sit at the feast with you but baby, they didn’t think you were good enough back then to dine with them. They tried to throw you scraps but God….. My God, My God… I am telling you get ready because you are about to see people in your life in places that you never imagined or believed they would be. People are about to have homes, relationships, wealth, dreams that they could only imagine but even the reality surpasses the imagination. Why? We stood in there during the storms. We held on to God’s word and praised Him even when we didn’t feel like it. We sacrificed our comfort and surrendered to a season of suffering and discomfort for His greater purpose. We bared our crosses, with tears falling down our face. Broken hearted, unsure, uncertain of where to go or what to do but holding on to the words, “Lord, I trust You. I don’t know where You are taking me, but I trust You.” We stood in the fire and we stood in the painful valley, calling on the name of the Lord when we couldn’t call on anyone else. God is about to reward you. Watch it happen and SUDDENLY.

They were the last, overlooked, overshadowed, BUT GOD… is about to make those people, those moments, those situations which were last, which were overlooked and overshadowed, God is about to make this season YOUR SEASON to shine like the diamond 💎 that God set them or it apart to be. Breakthrough is coming for a lot of people. You have waited and endured long enough, God is about to make you first. Joy is coming, peace is coming, love is coming, abundance is coming, healing is coming, wealth is coming. You’re what has been needed right now, the time has come and the wait is over. Prepare for the new!!!

I don’t know about you but I feel like this is a season where God is about to raise up His chosen. I keep hearing God say, “That which is last will one day be first.” This is a season for God’s chosen who were last: who were overlooked, overshadowed. Those who were pure in heart and patience in long suffering…. I feel that it is about to be a revival of joy, peace, love, abundance, and genuine happiness for those who endured and waited upon the Lord until the end. In this season, a lot of us will be hearing from the Lord, “Because ye were faithful over a few things, I shall make thee ruler over many things.” People are about to receive double blessings in this new season. People will be going from renting to owning. From in collections to paid in full. From borrowers to lenders. From lack to more than enough. This is about to be a season of replenishment to God’s people who held on and held in. He is faithful and He is about to reward faithfully, I declare and decree it in Jesus name.

I get tickled when I hear people say to me, “Don’t forget about us little people when you’re rich and famous.” Today, I was sitting and I had an opportunity to understand those words. What those words really mean is: “I don’t believe in you but when you make it, make sure you bring me along.” As I am about to embark on this next chapter of my life and prepare to usher in my 40s, I have determined that you were forgotten the moment you walked away. You were forgotten the moment you doubted my gifts. You were forgotten when you lied to me and said you supported my music but never listened to a single song. You were forgotten when I was performing live as an Independent Artist excited to share my gift with my family and friends but no one showed up to a performance. You were forgotten then and so when I am in that place of success with my gifts, I may be forgotten by you BUT GOD IS ABOUT TO MAKE YOU REMEMBER. So those who walked away, who rejected me, who pushed me away, who used me, who hurt and abandoned me when it was really needed…. Get ready because God is about to show the world the person that people didn’t think I could become, I am about to transform in front of you. I may not forget the little people but God is about to remind you of who you were dealing with at the time you mishandled me or mistreated me, left me, broke my heart, pushed me away, rejected me, whatever it was, the time is approaching for everyone to see who God made this 6’7” man to be.

The Underground Soundz Story
As an up and coming artist, Jay’e R. knew the struggles of making it in the music industry. He knew he had the gift and the drive to achieve success. As he continued to pursue his dream, he also thought about those who also wanted that chance to be heard as well. Underground Soundz began in 2015 when Jay’e R. was just an underground artist with a vision. He launched his show in March 2015 on WDRB Media/WGIV “The Soul of Charlotte” radio station. In April of that year, Jay’e R. took his show to Blog Talk Radio and kicked off his series with a lot of great new artists and music. He allowed artists and listeners the opportunity to hear the great music from artist who otherwise don’t have the chance to be heard.
