To foster the Potsdam Musical community by:
providing an outlet for free artisti

empowering local musicians to record and release through DCR free of charge, and creating a safe space for these actions to take place. Enhancement
To enhance the musical community and larger arts community by recording artists and putting on shows which can feature visual artists’ work. Facilitation
To Facilitate serious & genuine musical expression by interested musicians responding to the musical desires of the community by providing out of town music. Acceptance
DCR is a safe outlet of musical and artistic expression. Spreading art and acceptance through a larger audience of people through events and their operations. Promotion
DCR is the combined musical concerns of a community and serves as many aspects of the artist community by providing a “megaphone” through which their message can be promoted. We also strive promote and share local music in real life and online. Encouraging artistic community
DCR is an organization for people to encourage a community of music and art and let it be shared. We want to give musicians a chance to be heard and gain experience in front of an audience. We want to connect visual artists with musicians to further both practices. In all our forms DCR attempts to create a safe space where people can feel comfortable and support the local music scene. A place of free expression which is safe free from unwarranted judgment and negative vibes. Dad Culture Records Anti-Oppression Policy
Dad Culture Records is a record label committed to supporting the music community in Potsdam, NY, by providing local artists with recorded and live outlets for free expression in a positive environment. We seek to provide a safe haven within our community for the creative expression of all artistic peoples. In order to maintain this environment, we believe that it is our duty to confront oppressive attitudes and actions as they manifest themselves within our spaces/events. We define these behaviors as any manner of sexual or non-sexual physical contact that is non-consensual, as well as comments or actions that we deem racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, classist, ageist, or reflective of any other form of bigotry. These behaviors will not be tolerated. It is important to note that we will hold people accountable for engaging in oppressive behaviors outside of our spaces/events as well. Individuals known to have committed sexual assault, abuse, etc. may be barred from entry. We recognize our limitations and understand that we cannot be constantly aware of everything that goes on in our spaces. We encourage you as members of the community to look out for each other and reach out to us or others if you recognize that someone might be in trouble. We are all in this together. No one should ever have to feel afraid or unsafe at our events. We are deeply committed to upholding this policy so that anyone can feel comfortable at our events and spaces. We firmly believe that fostering a safe environment for all is essential to the creation of a nurturing artistic community.
