Why Gang Records is an independently owned and operated record label spewing out from Windsor and London, Ontario. It's goal is to release music and assorted art underneath a common banner. A friend can be any companion who we would like to support on a personal and monetary level to combat the oppressive, dysfunctional and largely corporate music industry. For many artists, it is difficult to lea
ve your local hub but it is not impossible. As young artists, we are still in the process of overcoming this and we have learned so far that spreading your music as far as it can go takes initiative and mutual aid. We must indulge in the true creative process that enables artists to work together instead of apart. This label began as merely a name when Weirdonia members, Alex Martens and Preston Lobzun had created it years ago. The addition of Jake Moroun of Aurelia has set a new goal for the project which we hope to expand on a national and international level while still remaining independent and true to our ideas. Our focus will be diverse in style and loyal to the cause. We're sick of labels that exist only to extort money from bands. We loathe individuals who give nothing to their scene and are only considering their own selfish endeavors. Through the process of learning and mutual aid we can overcome this poison.
